Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I was in my apartment at Brookside for one year and that was about all I could take! First off the places are very old. My friend's mom who is 40 lived there as a child! And you can definetly see their age.
As was said before the laundry rooms are absolutely disgusting. I was afraid to go in there. Also it is so noises! I could never sleep and in the summer, fall and into the winter all you here from 3-6 M-F and early mornings on the weekends if the Immaculta or Somerville High School marching bands practicing. Forget sleeping in or weekends or taking naps! Also if you live by the Immaculta playing field your car will get hit by stray footballs. Again as was said dealing with the water is horrible. I would have to get up an hour early just to run the water so it would get hot! Parking is down right impossible in some places and there are always high school kids hanging around (vandalization is not uncommon). Also some of your neighbors will be of the not so great type. One of my neighbors did A LOT of drugs and the other one blasted loud music all the time. Also the grounds are not kept well and other than the head of maintance they are very crude and uncourteous. There are some good points however... the women in the rental office are WONDERFUL. And it's a great location, near the mall and many supermarkets, target and walmart. But so are many other complexes. And the town of Somerville is very cute with nice little street fairs. A very homey town. But most places in Hunterdon County are (I've lived in the area my entire life). My suggestion is keep looking there are better places in the area for about the same rent. Just don't say you weren't warned!
