If it was not for the fact that my wife and I own a dog, we would not have chosen the Highlands right off Hwy 287 in S. Plainfield. The high noise level from 287 matches the rent. "Too high!" The lay out of the apt is fine except for the lack of insulation and sound proofing. You can tell from the appliances and windows that the developer "Roseland Properties", put in the cheapest they could get away with. We rented the top floor, and let me tell you, it was extremely hot in the summer. The A/C was always running.
The Highlands dings you for every little thing like gym fees ($300) and a monthly water bill of $13 (made out to "Highlands")
and a pet fee!
You can find more reasonable places to live if you do not own man?s best friend.
