Apartments nice, new, expensive, location good and bad

Complex is new (2000), so its very nice. It is probably the most expensive complex in the area as a result however. Rent increases have been somewhat ridiculous (1st year 1065, 2nd 1235, 3rd 1285). The fact that it is right off 287 is of course good and bad. Hoppin on 287 south is mostly a breeze. 287 north can be more of a pain than you might think. The traffic can be painful at times. Rush hour traffic right outside the complex is also painful. I actually had my one and only car accident at the very very poor and dangerous intersection. Truck traffic is a horrible and you never really get used to it. As the for the complx itself, it is a really nice place to live. Common areas are maintained well (streets are broom swept often, common areas are professioanly cleaned every couple months, clubhouse pool and workout room is clean). Parking is good and parking lot is cleaned better after a snowstorm than most roads. Trash dumpsters are convenient and close enough to the main door. The outside gate system is a major pain. It serves no security purpose. Its only purpose is to be a hassle for residents. Its not that big of a deal though...usually the gates get mysteriously broken soon after replacement.
My neighbors were very quiet. I didnt even really know most of their names which is a good thing i guess if your looking for privacy and quiet. The apartments themselves are really nice, albeit small for the price. The kitchens are probably the best part..nice size, new appliances, lots of cabinets. Laundry room is nice as well. Bathrooms are fine, nothing special.
Comcast is the local cable provider. I had digital cable and high speed internet which worked well.
Utility bills were OK. Gas and electric was about 50-75 a month and water was about 12 bucks a month. Seems a little high for a tiny 1 bedroom but what can ya do. The windows are not insulated very well (u stand near them and can feel cold air leaking through in the winter). That probably didnt help the winter heating bills. A tiny thing about being on the bottom floor... the sprinkers are close to the building and they love to come on in the middle of the night. This means that keeping windows open on spring/summer nights can be interesting.
The staff in the office is very nice, helpful, and easy to work with. The maintenance guy is also very helpful and is quick to fix any major problems.
Location has its positive points. You are within 5 minutes to practically everything you would need. 4 supermarkets, macys, blockbuster, fridays, bennigans, unos, applebees, walmart, home depot, lowes, office depot, sports authority, staples, macys, NJ DMV, Kohls, and all the normal little stuff you would expect. The quick chek across the street is of course, also very convenient. Tha bad thing is there is really no life. Go to NYC for that though.
All in all if you have patience with tractor trailors, its a nice place
