A semi-decent place to live...

PROS:
- All you have to pay is electric.
- LARGE apartments with lots of closet space.
- Large bathrooms.
- Decent Appliances.
- Cheap rent for 1 bedroom.
- Minimal insects on 2nd floor at least. There's an occasional LARGE bug here and there, but nothing major. I've also never experienced a rodent problem in my year living there.
- Close to major roads and good shopping. Route 18 is about a minute away and the NJ Turnpike is about 10 or less minutes away. 40/45 minutes from NYC.
- They allow cats and dogs! As I'm searching for a new place to move, I'm finding it very hard to find a place that accepts both.
CONS:
- Electric is not cheap (compared to what I'm used to, anyway) Summer months it was typically $100/mo and I live alone.
- A/C wall units could use an upgrade and it gets WAY too hot in the kitchen when cooking during the summer.
- Noise! You can hear everything and anything your downstairs neighbors are doing... and I mean EVERYTHING. Even when they have their TV or music on low, you can hear every note. I've often been woken up in the middle of the night simply by the sounds of them walking around. I also know they've asked me to keep it down sometimes as well, so it goes both ways - But at least they are VERY nice!
- Large dogs! I mean LARGE. When I moved in, I was told there was a breed restriction, but I see a St. Bernard walking around all the time (with the owner, of course) and my neighbor has a pitbull. Of course, they all make a lot of noise too. My neighbor often keeps her dog and cat out on her 2nd floor balcony, the cat will walk over to my door and hiss at my cat (who I keep inside) and her dog is out there often barking and there is dog crap all over her balcony which smells terribly. I have addressed this complaint with the management staff and the situation has improved.
- Fire Alarm system. I know others have complained about this as well, but it's terrible. It's so loud and sensitive. I'm sure the fire department got fed up with it going off all the time, they always had to respond. The frequency of it being set off has definitely declined, though.
- SMALL SINK SPACE! As if washing dishes weren't terrible enough, when I'm washing large pots, pans or skillets it is the most annoying thing ever because they hardly fit in the sink.
- No Washer/Dryer in unit. I'm not a big fan of lugging all of my laundry across the street... but, that might just be me!
My experience there has not been terrible and I would reccomend it to anyone who can deal with the cons I have listed, but I'm looking to move out at the end of my lease in a few months and find a place that has everything I am looking for. I, for the most part, have enjoyed my time here.

Everything you mention about Noise, fire alarms, and large dogs are true. I currently dealt with that experience myself.
I have tenants below me who are driving me nuts with the noise. Most noise are caused by children who just love to run around from bedroom to bedroom or bedroom to living room every morning and afternoon. On top of that, are the adults who have to control the kids with their yelling and screaming to calm them down.

Its During The Day,IF it was at night i could see you complaining. You must have no kids or something kids play what would you like them to just sit there?
