Don't fall for it

Do not rent from these people.
I thought I would save a little money by moving into swill run, as most of the other places in the area go for $200-$300 per month more. While it is nice to have a little extra spending cash, I would much rather live someplace less obnoxious.
Nearly every smoke alarm in this place needs a new battery. Code says that Mill Run has to have alarms, but not that they have to keep batteries in them. As everyone should know, smoke alarms emit an annoying "BEEP" every 14 seconds when they need their battery replaced. This provides a unique ambiance for the dwelling, like someone shooting crickets with a laser beam. I tried to get someone to replace the batteries in the smoke alarms in my building, (for some reason the smoke alarms are locked in cages to prevent tampering. Why would anyone want to tamper with something beeping 24 hours a day right outside their bedroom door?) and it took 30 phone calls, 4 faxes, and 2 months. I nearly went insane.
What coincided with this was even more ridiculous. Ever since I moved in, my stove wasn't working. I had my gas turned on before I arrived, so I didn't know what the problem was. It turns out that there is a valve in the basement of the building that needs to be turned a quarter (it's a quarter turn valve) in order to let gas flow into my apartment. This valve is housed in a locked room downstairs. It took the maintenance guys over 6 weeks to unlock a door and turn a valve. Pathetic.
The last thing is really the kicker. There isn't enough parking here so people are always parking illegally. I returned home late last Saturday and to no surprise couldn't find parking for miles around. I parked in an area near my apartment that I have seen other people park at many times. When I woke on Sunday morning, my car was gone. I was given a number to call, but no one answered. On Monday I called the number and was told to bring $340 cash to an alley were someone would take me to my car. I've spoken with the management about this and they just do not care. They let thugs come and essentially steal cars for the purpose of extortion, and don't care how hard you had to work to make your money.
Do not make the same mistake as I did. These crooks will be friendly to your face and ignore you when you have a problem. Spend the extra cash and go to a friendlier apartment complex. I am out of here as soon as my lease is up.
