My fiance and I have lived here for 2 years and hated every minute of it!! Sure, it looks like a beautiful, almost new complex from the outside but looks can be deceiving and in this case they are. While the rent for a 1 bedroom apartment is reasonably priced at $905 a month, you won't feel that way for long once get your first electric bill in the mail and every month from April to September the bill averages around $450! Adding the $450 electric bill, not including oil, to the $905 rent changes that monthly cost from $905 to $1350! Keep in mind that the apartment is the size of a shoebox, has only 1 bedroom and it is costing $450 a month just to run the air conditioner (keeping the temp at 76 degrees)!!! My mom lives in a huge 3 story home in Woolwich and her bill averages around $250-$300 per month so what is going on here'!! We called PSE&G to discuss this insane matter and were told that they always expect a numerous number of calls every spring & summer from tenants living here due to the crazy bills. They explained that the air conditioners here are original to the building and are extremely old. They also stated that the air conditioners weren't a good quality or efficient when they were newly installed back then which is why they have to work twice as hard and use twice as much electricity to cool the apartment!!
My car has been broken into twice in they 2 years I have lived here. Their are many hoodlums that graffiti on the buildings and hang out in the parking lots and I am sure that they are the ones doing this! I filed police reports both times but nothing came of it. The cops regularly visit here for this reason and I very frequently see them here for other cars that were broken into. When I called the office the first time my car was broken into I asked if anyone else's car was broken into the girls response was "well not today no"!!! Well that's reassuring!
The staff is very unsympathetic, uneducated about anything dealing with the units and can never answer your questions! They are extremely rude and unfriendly! When you ask to speak to the manager she is conveniently always busy. After calling about 10 times for her I had to go into the office and demand to speak to her! The staff always want to get you off the phone and when we complained that the air conditioner (that is costing us $450 monthly) keeps freezing up and not working at all causing the temp in our apartment to be 92 degrees, they answered with "well get a fan then"!!!!! The maintenance guy finally came to check it out at 10PM and stated that all he does all summer every summer is go around fixing (temporarily fixing that is) the air conditioners and that we were his 12th visit of the night for the same problem! The next night it was 90 degrees in our unit again and we had to stay at a hotel for the night!! I would NOT recommend this complex to anyone that I did not hate!! The staff does not care about your concerns and the units are falling apart!

i totally agree! when i moved in the bills were reasonable, than i started receiving the utility bills and every month they increase! my husband also is in iraq and i asked them if the rent could be lowered, adjusted, anything while he is gone. they answered with no you could sign a 6month lease and it will cost more but you won't have to live here as long!! the staff is VERY disrespectful. my car has been graffitied and also on hot days chocolate tasty cakes were smeared on my windsheild! i notified the staff and they did nothing. also every night there is a LOUD banging noise i have yet to figure out what it is. but it is very annoying. my bath tub has leaked since i moved in, they have temporarily fixed it (an hour) 3 times. i hope when state inspection comes that they fail and i can get out of this horrible place! and they supply 3 floors with 2 washer and dryers1 i can never do my laundry!! ugh i could go on for hours. anyone reading this DO NOT RENT HERE! IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY THEY RAISE THE BILLS MONTHLY AND YOU CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT! i hope someone reads this and does something about it! im sick of it!

OMG I have been living here for 2 years and can vouch for everything that you said proudmommy920!! The banging noise is sooooo scary and loud like a gunshot or something and goes off EVERY single night @ 9:30 - 11PM! I would love to call the cops but there is no way to tell where the noise is coming from! I was so curious about it that for a few nights i would run out on the balcony as soon as I heard it to try and see who it was! I think it is a firework or something but I feel sorry for any parent with a young child sleeping because that sound must wake them up considering that it is loud enough for me to jump off the couch when I hear it! I am so happy and relieved to hear that I am not going insane and have others that agree with my horrific experiences here! This is the worst run complex I have ever resided in and I am very excited for my lease to be over! You are also correct about the office staff being extremely rude and act as if they are 16 or 17 year old teens with their attitudes! Maybe if they would stop wasting all of their time writing mean, untrue "anonymous" responses to the legitimate comments that tenants are making to warn future potential tenants they could focus more on customer service and actually do their jobs correctly. If they think people are unaware that it is them making those immature, mean responses "anonymously" they really are as dumb as they look! Who else would take the comments so personally and fire back like that?! Good point huh!

I for one understand everything that you went threw with Echelon Glen. The manager has no clue what she is doing & could careless about the residents. I feel sorry for some of the leasing agents in the office because they want to help but when they go in the managers office she is told to leave & deal with it on there own. What a manager - your there to help the residents not sit in your office all day. This place is a joke & maybe they should update the apartments, not just fix the problem half ass then next week be out for the same problem. Its an old complex & they need to invest more money into the units. I would never recommend this apartment complex to anyone. Go somewhere you'll feel safe & secure. Oh p.s. if you try to call the management that owns Echelon Glen you'll get no where, its a joke also. No respect for anyone. Its a shame.
