Great community, Safe, Older apartment

I love the expansive courtyard. It's great for the kids to play completely away from the cars. The space provided is great for the price. The layout of the rooms and closets cannot be beat.

The apartment is old. They have redone some apartments in the complex, but not ours. The paint job was done poorly and the aparment was not clean when we moved in. I still have chipping paint in the apartment after 3 years that has not been repaired. Otherwise, maintenance is very good and attentive, especially for emergency plumbing and heating problems. Victoria is very professional in the rental office and she is very good at what she does.

The main management office (offsight) is strange and is only open for leasing questions for two hours a day(') Management also has a strange form letter when it is time to renew your lease that sounds more like an eviction notice than an invitation to renew. I don't like when I when I'm not treated like a customer, and I am glad that I hardly ever have to call the main management office. What ever happened to suggestion boxes and customer satisfaction surveys'

Parking is a problem if arriving after 10:00 PM. Otherwise it is fine. The complex is very safe. There aren't paid security officers, but the apartments are built in a way that foster community. Entryways are well lit. All doors, windows, and parking spaces are clearly visible and neighbors who are friendly with each other watch out for each other.

The community is very diverse. Hard working blue collar workers mixed with white collar professionals. All countries and languages and religions represented, with no racial or ethnic conflicts that I've observed. The young children grow up together and seem to have a "culture" of their own, including tolerance. The apartments are noisy. Noisy doors, noisy footsteps, noisy hardwood floors, noisy cars. At times I can hear babies crying and people arguing. (This is actually one of the reasons that makes the place safer. You and all your neighbors know exactly what is going on around you.)

Most people are content here (especially the young families), though I don't think that the college students seem too happy. Overall, I love it here because the community is so great and the courtyard space is awesome. I do wish that the apartment had a new paint job, bathroom, and kitchen.
