We have been living here since last June and plan to stay here. First of all, to all the negative tenants or former tenants, try living in a nice apartment in midtown Manhattan for awhile and get back to me about this place. We now have twice as much space and pay half of what we did there and we didn't even have our own washer and dryer. Not to mention the other amenities we now have. I wish I knew about this place 2 years ago when we blew all our money on over priced rent and broker fees. To join the gym in our former building in midtown, they wanted $800 per person!! So I will not complain about the pools or gyms, which we got for free!
I will admit, it is a bit cold now in the middle of this brutal winter, but turn the heat on when you need it most and save on your electric bill. Turn some lights off, it's not so bad. The problem is the winter. Last summer, we barely needed to use the a/c. There is a nice breeze here all summer.
All of our friends feel like they are on vacation when they come to visit,especially in the summer time. Everyone loves this place!
Riverbend is a beautiful place, but yes there are a few downsides. But not enough to bash this place or to move out. And I would like to add that I did read the 4 negative reviews on this site proir to moving in last year. I hesitated but I am happy that I did not follow their advice. Maybe we got lucky with the apartment we now have but anywhere you choose to live will have good things and bad things about it. It's just something we have to live with. There are surely more good things here than bad. Just be smart when you deal with the agents and NEGOTIATE as much as possible!!!!! You can get a good deal!
Just some last minute opinions I would like to add...the concierge in Riverbend 1 are great and very helpful! Most neighbors are very friendly and polite. Buildings are kept very clean. It is not very noisy over at Riverbend 1 and there is no dust in my apartment from the construction. You can get a free bus ride to the ferry from the back parking lot beginning at 7:00am. However, be aware there is no bus service on the weekends. My biggest complaint would be the return bus service from midtown. It can be pretty bad sometimes waiting for that bus. But it still beats the over crowded, smelly subways of NYC which I endured way too long.
