High dollar apartments, high crime area

We were usually pleased with service of Alvarado. The gates are a plus, however they're very easy to get over. With living in the downtown area comes higher cost of living, and higher number of crimes. Expect to have your vehicle broken into, apartment broken into, or your vehicle vandalised. With Albuquerque Police being extremely undermanned and underpaid, on many occasions expect them to be a while in their responses. You won't have to worry about medical attention because Albuquerque Fire has a station (No. 1) right next door. Before you decide to sign a lease with Alvarado, or any other apartment, I suggest you do research on the crime rates in the vicinity of the area. There is a map of Albuquerque I've seen showing in color the rates of crime.....the blocks are white being few crimes, and red being many crimes, and Alvarado falls in one of two red areas in Albuquerque. Alvarado has some good Maintenance guys working for them, and seem to get the job done, but on a couple of occasions the things that needed to be fixed we reported to the office, and didn't get notice to the maintenance guys to go fix it. Overall experience with management is fair....but the area and crimes will be a problem.
