flooding, freezing and boiling

I lived there for one year. The roof was leaking on the day I moved in. Other minor repairs were also needed. Management assured me this would be taken care of, then ignored me for a couple of weeks, refusing to show up for repair appointments and such. Meanwhile, my apartment flooded every time it rained. There was considerable damage to the carpet and furniture. I eventually had to involve the city code inspectors, who said the entire roof would have to be replaced because it did not meet city building codes.

Management replaced the sheetrock in the ceiling of my apartment, but never repaired the roof as they were told by the code inspector. Even after the repairs, my apartment continued to flood.

During the Thanksgiving Holiday I had guests for one week. During this one week, and the week after it, we had no heat and we ate thanksgiving dinner wearing our winter coats. Management was notified and said it would be taken care of. It wasn't.

On New Year's Eve I had a few guests at the apartment. I was talking with a friend when some noisy guests in the parking lot dischrged a fire arm. The bullet came through my patio door, breaking the window and narrowly missing my friend. I called security and nothing was done. I reported the broken window the next day, but it was never repaired, and I spent the rest of my time there with plastic bags taped over the window to keep the weather out. I was charged for the broken window when I moved out.

During the following summer, the fan in my air conditioner broke, causing it to run continuously without actually cooling the apartment. My electric bill was astronomical and I was unable to stay in my apartment during the day because of the high temperatures. It took the management two weeks to fix the air conditioner, and I was still held responsible for the electric bill.

When I moved out at the end of my lease, I was charged over a thousand dollars for water damage to the apartment, which had been caused by the constant flooding due to the leaky roof.

I advise against renting here if it can be avoided.
