pretty good place thus far

This is a pretty good place, but a couple of things to keep in mind:

1. This complex is getting old. Things break on a regular basis. My trash compactor broke, my deadbolt locking mechanism jammed so they had to call their handyman on a sunday to drill it out and replace it, and now the garage door opener doesnt work (takes dozens of attempts to, if I'm lucky, get the garage door open). On the positive side, their maintenance crew is always there and willing to help. They are very friendly and will go the whole nine yards to make sure everything is fixed to your liking.

2. Given the building is old, it isnt the cleanest from the exterior standpoint.

3. There are a lot of small families here with children, so usually as the sun sets during the summer you hear peels of laughter and screams. Depending on what kind of person you are, you may not find it a big problem but others may be very annoyed.

4. You dont really hear much from the other apartments if you're on the second floor. Occasionally you'll notice the water running in the bathroom next door where the resident may be taking a shower.

5. Noise within your own apartment is not bad at all. The only thing you'll ever notice is the air conditioning kicking on. One annoyance I get is the fact that the bathroom light is tied to the ventalation fan, so you cant have the light on without the fan on. This makes a very loud buzz (more like roar).

6. All kitchen appliances seem to be in order. Nothing special really. The in-unit washer and dryer is really convenient and I find it much better than having communal washing/drying unit.

7. Depending on which units you live in, it is extremely close to one of the bigger streets in the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho area, so you do get some late night traffic noise...and occasional motorcycle screaming by or chopper grumbling along. Other times you hear loud cars go flying by the area.

8. Morning traffic is not bad at all, at least toward the Intel campus. But it does see more traffic in the afternoons when people get off of work.

9. You're close to Cottonwood Mall. This mall is a decent place to go to look for stuff, but honestly not that great. There's a theatre so it'll give you something to do. Next closest place is across the Rio Grande (Coronado Center) and that is not a whole lot better.

10. Finally, some random thoughts:
- Yes, the mailboxes will fit Netflix or other similar services.
- The gym is well equiped and rarely packed.
- The pool is nice, but pretty small.
- Be nice to the service reps, they'll be nice to you. If you are a pain in their side, they'll reciprocate the same to you.
- Good luck having a lot of friends over, they dont have that many open parking spots.
- Price is not....bad...but not great I think. After talking with coworkers I realized that I am paying more than others. Where I'm from below $1000 for a 700 square foot single is quite the deal, so at the time (being in a rush) I was more than happy to sign a 6 mo. contract that was at around $700.

All in all, I think this place isn't bad. There's definitely room for improvement, and I think this apartment has made some positive strides since the last time anyone wrote a negative reviews. I can see this place getting better, and if they do, they will definitely be worth the $700.
