I Love it Here!

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
Management was VERY good with keeping in touch with me in regards to my moving in(I moved here from a little place about 4 hours away so everything was done by mail and telephone pretty much). I have lived here for 8 months now, and don't really have much to complain about. My downstairs neighbor can get a little loud with the music but I still am giving 5 stars for noise because that is apartment living - if you want true peace and quiet go buy a house. Other than that it is fairly quiet around here. I rarely see any bugs, and never see any roaches (so that is nice because that often seems to be a problem with some apartments).
Parking kindof stinks. We have reserved parking around the areas where it is crowded and there is only one parking spot for each apartment (which stinks because I have two cars and have to park one of my cars kindof far away, where I can't see it or keep an eye on it - but I shall add that I feel very safe when I walk to my other car that is parked far away). But, it really stinks to tell your company they have to walk a mile to see you!!! I have only come home a couple of times, to another car parked in my spot (usually it's the cable company or something). But, they usually leave pretty quick. No big deal, drive around the parking lot a couple of times, and they're gone...
As for grounds, there is ALWAYS someone out there picking up trash, and cleaning up. Even now in the colder months, I see someone out there first thing in the morning nearly everyday. Safety, is not a worry around here for me (and I would think that most would agree). I do wish there were trees and more grass though (that is why I gave 4 stars for grounds instead of 5)....
The construction of the apartments is okay, but I still gave a 5 because no apartment here in Albuquerque will ever be a Beverly Hills home!! Kitchen cabinets are tiny (I had to put my silverware in the dishwasher because the drawers are not wide enough for the silverware holder). The cabinets themselves are wimpy (I can barely fit my dishes in there). But that is not a big deal really. I do wish there were permanent light fixtures in all of the rooms. There is not one in either bedroom or a big one in the living room. The carpet is so light, it sure is hard to keep clean. The refridgerator and freezer are pretty tiny, and I am not much for the one big sink in the kitchen (I wish it was a normal sink with two). But all of those things, people can usually get used to.
The AC worked fine (Im not much for this type of AC so I will not comment too much on that). The heater takes forever to warm up (but again, I am not much for central heat and I am a wimp in the cold weather) so that probably makes a big difference in my opinion. It's nice having two bathrooms, offers extra storage and it is just a nice comodity to have when family is over.
Maintenance is AWESOME. I have only had to call for maintenance a couple of times. Once for my AC (didn't feel like it was getting cold enough) - they were out here in 20 minutes, and fixed it in 10 minutes. The other time was for the garbage disposal, they were out here that same afternoon, and it was fixed in five minutes. Ohhh and another thing was the dryer. My dryer takes an hour and a half to dry a medium load of laundry. I called them about it, and they said the dryer was working properly. So, I just quit complaining about it (but I do think 90 minutes to dry a medium load is a little much, but hey at least I don't have to go to take my laundry somewhere)!
So, with all of that being said, I would definately recommend these apartments. Please keep in mind that all of this is coming from a single-mother who has a six year old little girl. If I feel safe enough to walk around here with my kiddo, then that should be a little bit of a hint that these aprtments are not so bad. I have received compliments on the apartment itself from the few family and friends that have came by to visit. I do have to say that before I moved here, I came to Albuquerque to apartment shop. I looked at 18 apartments on the NE and SE side of town - and Manzano Mesa is where I ended up! I regret moving to Albuquerque, but DO NOT regret choosing Manazano Mesa as my home. I shall update my review to let everybody know how the move out process went when the time comes!
