Well here we go...
First off, I have a family, father of two, and I live with my fiance. Back when I first moved into this place it was absolutely wonderful. Let me tell you. This WAS a great place to live. Every aspect of this entire complex was amazing. The leasing consultant was kind enough, then again I don't know if this is coincidence or if it was intentional, to put in a unit that was surrounded by families. I live on the second floor and have a two bed two bath unit. Everything was great, never really talked with my neighbors or got to know them, but there was a respect for each other. No loud music, everyone was really nice, parking wasn't much of an issue on my side. It was great. Felt safe, neighbors were awesome, complex was well kept, maintenance was great, but never really dealt much with the leasing agents after I moved in. So I can't really comment on that. Another thing, bugs weren't an issue, then again I do live on the second floor. But the last complex I lived at prior to this, Gatewood now known as Woodberry Heights, had roaches up the...you know.
Recently there's been a lot of shady s#%@ going on around here. I read the rating prior to me and all is correct. There was a night where a woman was being chased by some man through the parking lot. This was about two or three in the morning. My fiance actually heard them and woke me up, all I see is some woman booking it through the parking lot screaming and some guy chasing after her. My fiance called the cops, but knowing that the police here in Albuquerque ain't s%#@, I knew they weren't going to show up in time to see what was going on. Sure enough whoever was causing the commotion left and it's like it never happened.
Second incident, there was a vehicle that was burnt on the side of my building. Literally right next to my building. My parents had actually came down that weekend and the following morning my mom had asked if I heard all the shouting and commotion the following night. I didn't hear anything and didn't really think anything of it. So I leave later that day and what do I see'! This van that was burnt to a crisp! Literally! I'm surprised it didn't explode or anything. It literally stayed there for about a week. Then one of the following days I was leaving again and the Assistant Manager was actually driving by in her little cart, I believe she was showing someone an empty unit. It was obvious that she knew nothing of this by the look on her face, she had this puzzled look on her face. Two or three days had already passed. Once again, the issue was never addressed, brushed under the rug and no one ever said a word about it.
Third, the shooting that happened sometime last week. I don't know much about this. All I know is what I saw. I was leaving for class around sevenish and I see several people pointing and looking toward the east. So prior to leaving the complex I look over just to see what was going on. All I saw was a car parked, couldn't really see much other than what looked to be people helping whoever was in the out. So I roll down my window and see if I can find out what's going on and all I hear is "somebody's been shot!" I had thought that maybe my mind had been playing tricks on me and maybe just thought I heard that. So I leave the complex and drive past the entrance where this vehicle was parked. Sure enough, I see an arm hanging out, door covered with blood, windshield and windows shattered from the bullets. So I turn back around at the light and head back, as I'm waiting at the light 4 or 5 cops drove by, lights flashing and everything. Keep in mind that my fiance and my 2 little kids were still at home by themselves. I pull back into the complex and they had already made an arrest. Three people were being detained by the police. And much to my surprise, management never addressed it. I don't even know what happened.
Fourth, so new people move in next door. I didn't think anything of it. I didn't know them and I was hoping everything was going to stay as it was before. WRONG! They blast their music so freaking loud! I can hear the lyrics while I'm sitting and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with my kids in the living room. Now I am a fan of loud music and hip-hop too, but when you're blasting it so loud that you can hear it clear as day next door, then there's a problem. I play the guitar and I don't even blast my amplifier. I am courteous and I respect the people that live around me. The new people who moved in below us also blast music every now and then, but they are courteous enough keep it at a respectable level. The second thing about these new neighbors that has me on edge is that they're smoking something next door, and I'm not talking anything legal, and the smell is entering both of our bathrooms. OMG! That stuff gives my wife such a bad headache and I don't even want my children near either of the restrooms. This place doesn't even feel like home anymore! I did contact the front office and told them about this, they told me that they were going to talk to the people next door and find out what's going on, and that if this problem continued, contact them immediately. Guess what' It continued to happen and I did call management again. The second time they told me that they couldn't do anything about it and that I needed to call the cops. WTF! "It might be something of concern that the police might need to look into" The police cannot enter someones home without a freaking warrant! All the cops are going to do is file a police report and tell me to call back if it continues. Now this is some major B.S.! I have freaking kids for gods sake! And management can't do s#%@ about this'! Come on! I was told when I first moved in that there was a strict rule about drugs coming into this community, and that if they found out anyone was doing drugs or selling drugs they would get evicted immediately. And now this...WTF'!
I understand where they're coming from when they tell me to call the cops, but come on, management should have something to do with this too. Albuquerque cops aren't worth S%#@! Unless it's a crime that'll make front page of the Journal or make the 5 o'clock news. I also had my truck broken into while I was here. I called the cops. They came and basically just told me off, saying that coming to help me was a waste of their time. Why would I want to call the cops when they have done nothing for me at all' I reported this to the Chief of Police. Ask me if I ever got a call back' Nope. So why would I waste my time with the cops' Like I said before, all they will do is fill out a Police report and maybe talk with the people next door. All that's going to do is piss them off. But yet I still have to put up with them and live beside them. Now I'm a pretty big guy and I can handle my own. But to have to possibly put my children and fiance in a situation where there's going to be plenty of conflict between us and them, which they never asked for by the way, would be irresponsible and idiotic of me. My family never asked for any of this but yet we're the ones who have to take care of it and put up with it. If I was single, I could just go next door and tell off the other person, get in their face, and maybe fight this S%#@ out. But do I want my kids around that' NO. Do my kids deserve to see their father fighting the neighbors' NO. Yet none of this crosses anyone's mind, and all of this is no concern to the front office. I guess it's not their problem right'
Luckily I'm a do it yourself kind of guy, I got the smell to go away. I just covered the exhaust vents. The smell is gone. By the way it wasn't weed they were smoking, unless it was some stank skunk weed, I still don't know what it is. I've never smelled smoke like that. I've been around weed enough to know what it smells like. Imagine if everyone knew that management wouldn't do anything if they knew you were doing drugs' This place would go downhill quick, not like it already hasn't.
In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend anyone moving into this place. It was nice at first, but as they say, all good things come to an end. There are still some good people and families here but the few shady people that management are allowing to move in, are ruining it for the rest of us. It was a nice community, quiet, a place you were proud to call home, but now it's just S%#$! With that said, I hope management reads this and sees what kind of bulls%#@ they're putting their good tenants through just to get that commission money. I guess money is more important than the tenants living here. And last but not least, maintenance is awesome! They're quick and they know what they're doing. I appreciate all that they done for me and my fam.

I agree with everything this reviewer has to say. Things just went from Great to Bad all for the dollar. It's sad. Some of us really enjoyed living here. It was very much a family oriented place. But now, with the late night cars speeding through the parking lot. People doing things they shouldnt and not getting reprimanded for it as told when you first move in, just goes to show how horrible things here are getting and sure to continue to go further south. Hopefully, no one else gets hurt here. Hopefully not a child. Not that its of any concern of staff. As long as they have that money, they aint gonna do S*&$.Again, its sad. My kids and I really did enjoy living here. But, looks like we might have to find a new complex. Hopefully we can find one as good as this place used to be.
