Watch out for the bugs...

Overall I think this is a decent place. After spending five years as an undergraduate student living in the UNM "student ghetto" area I think this is a much nicer place. The only thing that really bothers the hell out of me are all of the bugs I have encountered while living here. If you come here never rent a ground floor unit. I have never seen a cockroach here but I have caught dozens and dozens of spiders of all types in my apartment. They predominantly tend to be wolf spiders but I have seen the occaisonal brown recluse as well and the hideous looking stetoda spider. They crawl right under the sliding doors. The scariest thing I have found to date was an Arizona bark scorpion (the real thing, with a stinging tail). I also saw a 4 foot coral snake (poisonous) slither into the bushes outside my apartment door last summer. And of course as someone else has mentioned there seems to be an ant problem as well. All of this is due to close proximity to the Bosque and Rio Grande River.
As a side note, I do fear that when I move out I am going to encounter problems with the office about cleaning. When I moved in, all my doors and windows were covered by thick hard water stains from the sprinklers spraying directly on the windows. I noted this on my move-in inspection sheet but I still fear I will have to go court over this if they try to charge me for it when I move out. Over all I'd say its an allright place if you don't mind the arachnids.
