Not worth the money

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2007
I lived in these apartments for about two and half years, and I am so happy to be out of there and in a house. Apartment living is going to come with some drawbacks, especially if you value privacy, but for what you pay to live at Suncreek I expected a lot less issues than I had. But I'll try to stay objective and at least list some good to go along with the bad.
Good:
-Parking is ample, and typically I didn't have to park too far from the gate to my building.
-Units are good size, especially the 2nd floor units with vaulted ceilings.
-The grounds are kept in pretty good shape.
-Thick walls and floors kept the noise down, although there are always some neighbors who have no concept of respect and still play their stereos so loud the bass rattles every unit around them.
Bad:
-Extreme over watering. For at least six months out of the year, the sprinklers cycle around the complex from 9pm to 3 or 4 in the morning. Every night. Even after it rains. This is a desert, people!
-Good luck taking a shower when said sprinklers are running. The water can go from scalding hot to ice cold in a matter of seconds, and I'm not exaggerating.
-Maintenance was typically prompt, though they usually did a half @ss job. When I asked if it would be possible to install a scald gaurd in my shower because of the sprinklers, their idea of a fix was to put a different shower head that used three times the normal amount of water. While this helped the scalding problem a little, it was a total waste of water (again, desert!) and the shower was so powerful it sucked my shower curtain into the shower stall everytime I used it.
-They seem to be doing less screening of prospective residents, and there is a lot of noise that comes from the parking lots at all hours of the night. I also dealt with some college age kids as neighbors for about six months, and had to hear people coming and going up and down the stairs constantly, then slamming the front door to their unit which literally shook my entire apartment. Naturally I spoke with management, but their first response was to suggest I call the police and they balked when I suggested they get some security to patrol the complex.
-Don't expect to get your deposit back. By the time you get charged for your utilities in arrears, plus a mandatory carpet cleaning fee, you will owe the complex more money. That and the final bill they sent me was so illegible it looked like a five year old had created it.
All in all, I will admit apartment living is not for me, but I was disappointed with Suncreek, especially for the price, and feel I could have saved at least $100 a month by living at another complex that would have had less, or at least the same, amount of problems.
