I renewed my lease in Sept. '07 and at that time I was told by Ned that I could transfer apartments anytime, no problem. I decided to transfer that following January; I spoke with Ned and Kelly on 2-3 occasions and viewed the available apartment. When I decided to take the new apartment and sign the paperwork, I was told that there would be a transfer fee of $250. They had many chances to mention the fee, but failed to do so, which was very misleading. When I addressed my concern to Kelly and the corporate office, they were not willing to compromise in anyway.
So, I decided to move out of the complex after that situation. I opted out of my contract and gave them approx. 50 days notice (they require a 30 day notice) of my plans to vacate.
On their website they were supposed to list my apartment as available on 3/15, or sooner, but they listed it as available on 3/29. Basically, they felt no need to "promote" the apartment because I had already paid the the entire month of March, even though I moved out on 3/08.
-Bottom line is, I was told many things in "good faith"; I trusted them and I feel I was deceived.
