I lived at this apt complex for about 1 year and while they seem somewhat nice from the outside, the inside shows their 35 year old age. The kitchen cabinets are old and painted over multiple times with a gooey white paint. The walls to adjoining apartments are so thin that I could always hear the guy next door snoring all night. In the summer you will be hard pressed to cool your unit lower than 78 degrees since it appears that the A/C units are undersized for the space that they're cooling. If I turned the thermostat lower than 78 the A/C would never turn off. Another thing is that since the place is located on a main thoroughfare vehicles are often vandalized and management does nothing about it other than give you lip service. All this coupled with the horrendously high rent of these apartments makes this place less than desirable, IMO. Current rents are almost double (and they keep raising it) that of most other U.S. cities of similar size and those places usually have a lot more to offer than Hobbs does. Yes, yes, there are some trees and a small amount of grass there, but that pales in comparison to the negatives. For instance, the swimming pool stays permanently covered all year with absolutely NO explanation as to why that is when summer rolls around and the extreme heat hits. Broken washing machines remain un-repaired for months on end. Management will spend more time & energy explaining to you why they "can't" do something than they will actually doing it. Bottom line is that if you can avoid living in Hobbs at all by all means do so, but if you must, I would steer clear of this place...you'd be better off living in an RV trailer. Andrews Texas is a much better choice for those working at the NEF & is much less expensive to boot. Hobbs will rob you blind and then shake you upside down by the ankles to see if they missed any change in your pockets. Beware!!
