I currently live in the Valle Encantada Apts. Before moving in, I read the reviews online and was a bit apprehensive, but since there aren't alot of options in Roswell, and I had to have a place to live, I took the chance. I'm glad I did. To address some of the things mentioned in the previous posts -
1) Condition of the apartments - Yes they are dated. However if you consider what the rates are in comparison to newer complexes in town, you are paying half of what a brand new unit rents for. When I moved in my oven didn't work, I mentioned it and within days I had a brand new stove installed in the apartment. As it started to warm up this spring my A/C was having issues, again I alerted management and the net day it was fixed.
2) Rules - I don't think it's innappropriate for management to have some expectations for tenants. There is nothing more aggravating than coming home from work to find someone parked in your spot. It's also not ridiculous that managment has a problem with people parking in places they aren't supposed to.....like in front of the mailboxes, etc. There's unassigned parking available, park there...you might have to walk a bit further, but I don't think it will kill you.
3) Management - Personally I never had a problem with Julie. I'll admit she was a bit standoffish when I looked at moving in, however I think she was trying to decide if I was someone she wanted to rent to. I did see her be dismissive to some "sketchy" types that were also looking at apartments. However, I don't think that there is anything wrong with selective management. I recently found out we are getting a new manager, I stopped by the office and she seems really nice.
In closing, if you are looking for a place where you can let your kids run wild, do whatever you want and pay next to nothing for a nice place...well then you should live somewhere else.
