Use of water during a drought

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
The only reason I moved into Talavera was because of the price for a 1 bedroom in Santa Fe. I lived there a few months ago, and it was a complete nightmare. The person that showed us the apartments was unprofessional and outright insulted us. The day we were supposed to move in, the apartment was only about halfway finished. The paint on the walls was still wet, there was paint on the carpets, the door was missing and many other little things. After we finally moved in, we discovered that there was a problem with roaches. Excuse me, it was a plain out infestation. The parking was horrible. There were always people loitering outside. As a woman, I did not feel comfortable walking in broad daylight much less during the night by myself to my vehicle. There were several break-ins, in the laundry room, and vehicles. There is a gate, but it is always open. People speed around the apartments even if there are speed bumps. If you are not careful, you can get run over. The men that boot cars, but a boot on my vehicle and I was parked at the office for about 2 minutes. There are 2 schools nearby, so traffic in the morning and afternoon is HORRIBLE!! The manager was deceitful and very unprofessional. I could not believe there was a certificate hanging on the wall claming she was a good manager. I am telling the complete truth. If all you can afford is Talavera, be prepared to be miserable.
The following businesses were the top 10 commercial water users for June, July and August of this year.
4. TALAVERA APARTMENT HOMES
4129 Meadows Road
Water used for June, July and August: 8,705,000 gallons
Talavera Apartments has 296 units and more than 500 residents. That should explain the complex s high water use, General Manager Marlene Armijo says. Moreover, the complex, which is owned by a Santa Barbara-based company, has significantly reduced its landscaping and irrigating systems and closed one of its two pools in an effort to conserve, Armijo says. Indeed, Armijo guesses the problem might lie with the city s billing, not the 2,901,667 gallons of water per month and 94,620 gallons per day Talavera soaked up this summer.
We ve been challenged by the water company over the past five years, she says. We ve even had audits conducted because of the inconsistencies in billing.
