I lived in Talavera for 10 Months. I moved to Santa Fe specifically to build the Rail Runner Commuter train and explicitly told the staff such. I originally signed a 7 month lease. When I realized in September that the project would not be finished until September I went into the office and requested a three month extension to my lease. They printed up a new three month lease for me to sign instead of modifying the one in place. I saw no problem with this. Every month I stopped by the office to pay my rent and often fill in the staff on the project of the Rail Runner as it was a high profile project. The last month (October) the staff offered to help me find employment in Santa Fe if I wished to stay, however my career being linked to large scale construction I denied. I was a bit late with my written letter of move out, the first week of November, and the leasing agent over the phone said I would be charged the first week of December as a penalty for a thirty days written notice. I felt this was somewhat unfair as they knew I intended to move but could see the legal perspective. In December I recieved a bill for $1400 dollars for failure to do a 60 DAY WRITTEN notice. I sent them a check for the amount I knew I would have to pay as agreed on the phone with a letter thinking the bill was a mistake. Come to find out sure enough, WHO WRITES A 60 WRITTEN NOTICE CLAUSE INTO A 3 MONTH LEASE' The didn't respond to my letter but cashed my check and I moved on. Mid February 2009, I received notice that they sent me to collections for the enire amount and they DIDN'T EVEN ADMIT TO CASHING MY CHECK!
Other complaints include: laundry room with mostly broken washers, dirty when working, and constantly bolted locked during Sunday morning hours when it was supposed to be available. Staff to lazy to get up in the morning to unlock.
Parking patrol towers over zealous. Parking stickers were required and one night The lady downstairs was harrassed by the parking patrol towing her car because the sticker was not entirely visible.
