I lived here from late 99-early 2000. I was fresh out of college back east and had gotten a job with a company based in SF, and though I'd be moving there. Surprise! You get to train in Carson City!

But enough about my life, here's the apartment info:



1) Great customer service. They were up-front and honest with me about everything. If there was something I'd asked that they couldn't do, they'd say "No" and explain why. This is great...all too often, people will say "yes" then not follow through and use rules as an excuse later. However, if they could help me out, they went out of their way to do so. It was really nice to know exactly where I stood.

2) Maintenance. Everything was fixed before move-in, and if something broke, they were on it the next day.

3) Design/floor plan. Wow. I had the 2br/1.5 bath townhouse plan. The living room was huge and had a patio out back. The dining room was also huge...there was a space for a w/d in the hall and a 1/2 bath on the first floor, as well as a storage room at the end of the stair case. oh, and a back patio with some greenspace.

Upstairs, there were 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. My bedroom had a georgeous balcony off of it...and I used to sit out there, smoke a cigarette and drink soda, watching it snow up in the Sierra, while in the other direction the stars were shining. Totally amazing.

4) Parking was never a problem.

5) The pool opened right as I was leaving (blame that on climate, not the apartment.) and it was nice.

6) In addition to w/d hookups, they had new and well maintained coin laundry facilities.

I should also complement the staff on their lack of egos...this is something I've come across before. Sometimes landlords think they own you...not them. As long as I was paying my rent and not causing damages or disturbances, they kept out of my business. I had a friend stay with me for 4 weeks and they never batted an eye. When I asked if that was ok or if they needed any paperwork, they told me "its your business, as long as you take responsibility for his actions."

The only downsides were as follows:

1) The landscaping was beautiful, but the pine trees dropped a lot of tar on my car. I had to use grain alcohol to dissolve it.

2) While I loved the design, the master bedroom was hard to arrange, because the closet took up one wall and the sliding glass door took up another. doesn't leave lots of wall space to work with.

3) the main bathroom was kind-of small.

4) The mailboxes were all in a central location...which wouldn't be that big of a deal except it gets COLD in the winter and walking all the way over there is kind of a chore.

But those were very minor inconveniences. You may think its pricey for Carson (i was paying $720/mo back then) but if everything has stayed the same, its worth it to live in a beautiful townhome and no B/S.
