Nice Apartments

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
I came to Allegro directly from overseas without even visiting the area let alone the apartments. I'm a stickler for a good floor plan, and the online information and helpful management staff worked for me. (Hint for negative reviewers - if you are nice even when things are going wrong, people are generally nice and helpful back.) My first year at Allegro was rather routine with maintenance responding quickly and the office staff being friendly and willing to help.
These apartments were built in 1999, and during the winter of 2006/2007 the main pool behind the leasing office was entirely resurfaced. The construction is the typical wood framing and stucco of the valley area. There is nothing different in that from other complexes. I do think the overall layout and designs of the spaces and terraces are much better than the majority of the apartments in the valley - I looked at the majority of the communities before picking Allegro. Picerne also did some lot resurfacing during the 2 years I was there - I received a notice on my door with the locations of allowed parking during the time of the minor construction. There was always plenty of parking close to my building, but to have the nice lawns you do need to accept that you will have a bit of walk to get to your car. The grounds are great with green lawn areas and almost-mature trees. The views are the best you can get with the terracing - I had a panoramic of the entire valley and the mountains. It seems that a lot of people have small dogs, but there was usually only minor barking during the evenings. The fitness room is well-equipped for the size and right next to the main pool.
I lived on the second floor, so noise was not usually a concern, except when a temporary couple on the ground floor would have nightly screaming fights. The management was notified by multiple neighbors and the couple was evicted after the appropriate warning notices. By the second year, the main issue I had had was an influx of sugar ants in my bathroom. A good citrus and cucumber mix killed the majority of them and the office provides weekly pest control when requested by the residents. The maintenance also re-caulked my entire bathroom to keep them from coming back. In the desert, there will be a lot of bugs that infiltrate your spaces no matter where you live, so having the complimentary pest control was wonderful. I recommend having them come before the spring and winter just to cover your bases (like the local home-owners do).
Rent was raised every year, but that is also typical of every community. The current staff is helpful and friendly, and willing to answer questions. They are currently going through some maintenance staff changes, so the current response time is not as fast, but it should go back to the higher standard as soon as everyone settles in again. Overall, this was a nice apartment for me and if I stayed in the area I wouldn't have left.
