Decent apartment but tons of unexpected expenses.

So Camden Commons has been a good home for my for the past year or so, but beware of the seemingly good deal you're getting, because there are tons of monthly fees. Camden are still the only apartment management company I have ever seen charge tenants for trash and water. Supposedly the trash and water is split between the whole neighborhood, and my share last month was about $55 dollars, so you can expect that extra monthly expense, in addition to the $42 dollar mandatory cable TV. Right there that's 100 dollars a month that you could easily avoid by living elsewhere. And if you've got a pet, they require a $300 dollar non-refundable"Pet Fee" in addition to $25 dollars a month "Pet Rent."
Once you're prepared to move out, you get a breakdown of the cost of every little component of the apartment. They nickle and dime the crap out of you on that thing. That's pretty much what I've found with Camden - the properties are good enough, but they try to get money from you at every single chance they can.
That being said, I never waited more than a day for a maintenance request to be filled, so that's a definitely plus. The pools are kept in decent shape, definitely not cleaned daily but never unsanitary-seeming.
If you were my friend and you were thinking about moving into Camden Commons, I'd definitely tell you to look elsewhere first, but there are surely worse places you could live.
