Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2004
I lived at the Crossing apartments for three years. I was never happier to vacate these apartments.
When I first moved in, maintenance requests were not responded to in a timely manner. For instance, the apartments removed a washer and dryer that they owned from our apartment so that I could install my own washer and dryer. When they removed the washer and dryer, they broke the hot water valve (that hooks up to the washer) and did not fix the valve (hot water was continuously running) for three days. My friends (who have since moved) have not faired any better. They had their air conditioner break during the summer and had to wait 3 days for the apartments to fix it. The also had a dishwasher that overflowed and was also not fixed immediately.
When I first moved in, the exterior of the apartments were well maintained and the premises (lawns) were also very well maintained. However, over the past three years, everything has deteriorated. The buildings are in desperate need of paint and the lawns need more grass planted or the management needs to change over to desert landscaping. Also, last summer the pool was closed for quite awhile due to the Health Department shutting it down.
I can't honestly say that maintenance requests have changed much. Do to the lack of response from the office to get anything done, I stopped submitting requests and fixed things myself. However, before I moved out, I was able to get a light bulb replaced!
Don't let the staff fool you. They are really nice to you until you move in. Then, the care for your concerns, is met with false promises. They also will rent to just about anyone. I had meth addicts living below me & on house arrest until they were finally kicked out! I also had my car broken into to. According to the police officer I spoke with when I filed my report, "it is not an uncommon occurrence in this area." My friend also had a knife pulled on him as he tried to stop a man from beating up a woman in the parking lot. As a professor at UNLV, I did not need these additional hassles when I come home.
During my time at the Crossing, there has been constant ownership and staff turnover. When I vacated, I believe the apartment was under the third management company since I moved in and the staff (both at the front office and maintenance) had changed multiple times. Personally, I could not recommend this apartment complex to anyone. Perhaps with more time and efforts by the new management and staff, they can change around the image. However, since the new management has entered, I have not witnessed any remarkable changes that would make me think that things at the Crossing are moving in a positive direction.
