Upon moving out I was called by Mercedes informing me that I was going to get my deposit back and she needed my new address. I kindly gave here my new address so I could receive my deposit back. Two weeks went by and I called to check the status on my deposit check. I was then informed that I was not going to get my deposit back and that I owed 500 for new carpet. They claimed there was oil stains throughout the apartment. Ovbiously this was a huge shock to hear this. I admit the carpet was dirty, you walk up and down carpeted stairs for over a year, the carpet will get dirty. I asked was the carpet shampooed first before it was determined that the carpet was ruined, their response was No we did not try to clean the carpet first. Oh and they have nothing to back up the claim of the mysterious oil stains throughout the apartment. Needless to say my deposit is gone and will have to take legal action to get this cleaered up. Thank god for friends of the family who are lawyers.

That sucks! I'm still waiting for my deposit as well, but I made sure I had a Manager walk through and sign off on the apartment before I left the state. Plus, I took pictures! Keep me posted on your results, and good luck!

When I moved out they charged me to clean the carpet also. The thing is when I renewed my lease I was offered a "free carpet cleaning" as an incentive, I scheduled the cleaning and waited all morning and the cleaners never came. They said it was because I hadn't initialed a page in the lease agreement that THEY walked me through!

I was just wondering what you thought about the overall apartment area other than not getting your deposit back. I am moving there in a couple of weeks and only had to put down a hundred dollar deposit, should i just cut my losses and head for the hills or is this place liveable? Also is there really a bad bug problem? Please let me know.
