My bf and I moved to la Serena in Nov 2008 and so far we haven't had any problems, issues or bad experiences.We chose this place basically because of its location, so close to our parents, the freeways, the restaurants we love. I never lived in an apartment before so I was a little nervous about it, expecting tons of cockroaches and loud neighbors but fortunately it has been so far a positive experience.
Our apto is all the way in the back, no traffic or noises here, it is so quiet that sometimes you feel like you are in a house instead of an apartment, our neighbors are very respectful, we don't see them that often. Inside everything is pretty new and all the appliances work perfectly fine, including the little electric grill in the balcony. Last month we received and eviction notice by our front door, because supposedly we didn't pay the rent, but we did, just that our money order got lost...at the end they found it and apologize to us. The management is professional and helpful, as well as maintenance staff that keep it clean and inviting... so far it has been wonderful...and in case you we were wondering I haven't seen any cockroaches ;) not even one.
