decent living

so i'm going to just try and state the facts of my experience. and be as helpful as i can be. i've found reviews on this site to be helpful...so here i go.

i only lived here for just over a month...not because it was horrible but because my job requires me to relocate often.

the apartment: itself was nice. the age and wear and tear of the fixtures was obvious. the bathtub knob itself really needed to be replaced. the apartment was spacious and comfortable, plenty of room. there were not cabinet doors under the kitchen sink, bathroom sink and other counter areas and the baseboards in the kitchen and the bathroom was cheap plastic lining that didn't actually touch the floor or meet in corners...half ass job on that aspect. the appliances were decent...fridge and stove appeared upgraded but the dishwasher was worthless. the carpet was probably only a couple tenants old. there was an in unit alarm system that you could have activated, however it was only a local alarm and wasn't connected to an outside agency. so if the alarm did go off you would have to hope that a neighbor would hear it and check on you or call the cops themselves. the 'in unit' washer/dryer was actually in a storage space on the patio. the walls could be thin at times. i occasionally could hear the upstairs neighbors tv but really only if my tv was off...otherwise my tv drowned out their noise. oh and the bathroom fan automatically turned on when the light was on, there were not individual switches for the light and fan, which was beyond annoying.

noise: very little. my unit was on the outside edge of the complex and my neighbors were all working-class quiet people so i really didn't have any noise issues.

safety: the complex felt very safe. i did see a security guard on patrol a couple nights when i got home late. i also saw a police car drive through the complex a couple times a night. i felt safe enough to walk my dog outside at midnight by myself and never came across anyone that made me uncomfortable. the complex is not gated, however from the outside it looks as though it might be. it has a wrought iron fence that surrounds it and only 2 dedicated entrances/exits. the mail boxes were in a secure/locked room.

grounds: for the most part...clean. there seemed to be landscapers there every monday or tuesday. the grounds were very well manicured and appeared taken care of throughout the complex not just near the clubhouse. it is true about pet droppings though. i have a big dog and i always picked up after her, but it seems to be impossible for others to do that, so watch where you step. the dumpsters were emptied 1-2 times a week.

parking: assigned 1 spot per apartment. multiple car homes had to share, rent a garage(don't know the fee) or find an uncovered spot. there was plenty of parking...probably enough for each home to have two cars or have multiple guests over. on the side where my unit was there were more empty spots than there were occupied ones.

amenities: the clubhouse was nice and clean. the exercise room (although i didn't use it) appeared to be well kept and clean. the pool and surrounding area was well maintained. they have a car wash area at the back of the complex, which was useful. the vacuum, however, doesn't work...no suction. business area was available for use with computers, no fax machine

maintenance: 2 maintenance workers that i always saw riding around in the golf carts doing something. i saw them every day of the week. i didn't have any maintenance issues but they were definitely around and appeared to be busy.

management: the dreaded topic...i didn't deal with management directly with regards to the renting of my unit. my company dealt with all of that. when i did come across them it was only for brief moments but they seemed nice. i never spoke with the manager only the girls at the main desk. they were very nice and helpful. they were also always willing to fax documents for me at no charge. which saved me $ every week. they also extended the office hours to 7 pm.

BUGS: i hate bugs with a passion. the complex offers a complimentary pest control service every wednesday 9-12. you just call them and request the service and the pest guy comes and sprays. i used that service but it didn't do me much good. i killed one black widow spider by the washer/dryer and was constantly sweeping spiderwebs away. crickets everywhere...i don't know how they got into the unit but they were always there. last but not least...roaches! inside, outside, all over...of course they only came out at night but if you were walking around outside at night they were everywhere. but in the unit is what bothered me. i never left food or trash out and i kept the apartment clean, even more so after i saw the first roach. i closed the drains every night, didn't help. the little baby roaches were always on the kitchen and bathroom floor, granted they were usually dead when i would find them but still...YUCK. i know for a fact that they would hide under those stupid fake plastic baseboards that went around the kitchen and bathroom. ugh i hate bugs. my unit was a ground level unit so maybe bugs come with that but be sure you have your own bug spray.

pets: very pet friendly. never had any issues wth my dog or other pets.

surrounding area: the area was quiet after about 8 or 9 pm. directly across the street from the main entrance to the complex was an auto mall so once that closed it was quiet. neighborhoods surrounded the rest of the complex. casino, mall, and walmart, target, petsmart, park with dog runs, and freeways all within 5-10 minutes driving distance. very convenient area.

overall. the complex was decent. it's not one that i would have chosen for myself nor would i live there long term but it was decent and delivered what was advertised. i'm just picky i guess

hope that was objective enough and helpful
