Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2002
I moved in when the previous management was in charge. They seemed to be knowledgeable and were always friendly, with prompt response to security and repair requests. The new management took over, issued a lot of memos with all kinds of promises but didn't really seem to follow through. I was paying the same rent they were charging for new, "refurbished" apartments. To their credit, however, they did not increase my rent and let me go month to month for almost a year. They were generally always nice when I went into the office, although I saw a lot of inconsistancies in the enforcement of the rules. They are quick to issue threatening letters but not quick to respond to repairs, etc.
Upon moving out, I was charged a ridiculous fee for water for (which seemed to be increasing the past few months, when I was using far less water--no explanation for that) and I was also charged $75 for the carpet which was going to be replaced anyway. No explanation for that, either.
I agree with the person who says there doesn't seem to be much of a screening process; for the money I was paying, I would have expected a higher standard of neighbors.
It's in a great location but if you do your research, you can find nicer apartments for the same money or less.
