Nice, but not perfect

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
The grounds are beautiful. The 3 pools (2 with waterfalls) and the gym are great. The layouts of the apartments are even better. Floor space is maximized and the kitchens are beautiful. Unfortunately, the construction could have been better. The walls are thin, and if your apartment faces Jones Blvd. it can get loud from the passing cars. In fairness to management, they are upfront about this problem when they show the apartments. The thin walls also contribute to poor insulation, which requires tenants to run the AC and heat more than they would with better construction. There was a major crime problem within the complex when I first moved in, but they changed security companies and that improved the situation dramatically. With the new security company I feel the complex is very safe. Maintenance issues were always handled quickly and competently. My one major complaint about Coronado Bay is that in the fall of '07 there was a major problem with black widow spiders around the walkways. When I called this to management's attention they didn't do anything. I ended up spraying a bunch of them myself, but without the professional extermination I requested they would keep coming back every couple of months. Parking can be a problem if you get home after 11PM.
