When I first moved here, My husband and I were in a down stairs one bedroom apt. We loved it. The complex was safe, my husband had a honda he had been fixing up and he left the windows down one night, nothing happened. The apartment was clean, all appliances were new and worked well. We even had quiet neighbors. When the one year lease was up we moved into a two bedroom apartment across the courtyard, upstairs. When we were shown the apartment, it was dirty, they hadnt finished the cleaning on it, but they were hell bent on renting it to us. We didnt mind at first. We waited in our one bedroom apartment while the cleaning was done on it. They were in the middle of their "million-dollar renovation" which we realized was just a bunch of crap when you think about it. They may spend a million dollars, but with so many apartments to renovate and the cost of labor, the materials used for the upgrade aren't good quality.
When we moved in, the carpets were still gross, full of stains, there was graffiti inside one of the kitchen cabinets, the dishwasher didnt work, the burners on the stove dont work right, The oven wouldnt even turn on! the washer and dryer were old(actually the dryer is still old and takes an hour and a half to dry a load), and worst of all there were roaches! My husband spoke to the manager and had them come out and dye the carpets, they never replaced that damn dryer, we had to constantly harrass them about the dishwasher. I usually wouldn't care, i can wash dishes by hand, but we are paying for these amenities! In the master Bath the tiles are falling out of the wall, we noticed that the door to the guest bathroom had been smashed in really bad on one side and instead of replacing it, they used some sort of speckle to patch it up, didnt even make it look even.
I bought roach poison to try and get rid of the bugs(i hate bugs!) used a mr. clean magic erase thing to get the graffiti off the cabinet. We started just getting used to the situation with this apartment, the bugs were gone, we bought rugs to cover our carpet. Then we started hearing a lot of noise coming from downstairs! I thought being on top would be quiet, you dont usually have complaints from people in upstairs apartments. The quality of people they rent to now has really gone downhill. The neighbors down stairs are either blasting music, screaming at eachother, or start watching tv with the volume all the way up at 10pm and dont turn it off till morning! If they aren't making noise, then the girl in the apartment next to them is blaring her music so loud we can hear it! People hang out in the parking lot making all kinds of noise, and we had one of our cars broken into. There is plenty of parking, assigned and visitor, but people still park in other peoples assigned parking! The security in this complex has pretty much disappeared, a lot of cars in the complex have been broken into, and the management just says they cant afford more security! I am so over this apartment complex! Our lease is up in may and we couldnt be more excited to be done with this place!

You forgot to write about the (now famous and absolutely HUMUNGOUSLY SIZED) scorpion problem that they STILL have. Only a matter of time before i'm stung... these are HUGE.

Well, I have never had any issues with the scorpions, just the roaches, including the huge water bugs that would crawl under our door in our downstairs apt. My next door neighbor upstairs actually had the scorpion thing. We've been lucky in that area i guess :{
