Beware of the racist HOA at Laguna Palms. They discriminate against all minorities and also renters. If you're a renter, the HOA doesn't give a crap about you and will put your covered parking spot so far away from your place. One time, they had resassigned my parking spot and was thankfully so much closer to my unit. Then a few weeks later, at a whim, they moved it back to where it was 20 spots away. Of course, my Califorinia landlord/owner didn't give a ---- about the parking situation. There are cars stolen and broken into all the time. There's also a peeping tom problem with the units that are close to Flamingo Road-at least that's what I heard from someone from the neighborhood. I also heard that neighbors were slashing each others' tires and keying them. Oh and the postal authorities were called when the mailboxes were broken into and the stolen mail was found in someone's unit. This is just a few of the many problems with this complex. I hate this place and I hope that if you care about your sanity, health, and possessions that you will stay away.

Mail break-ins happen throughout Las Vegas that is why this Association has gone to the expense to place a gate/fence around the mail boxes, includes video cameras, and a new card entry system. The break-in this ???renter??? is talking about occurred about 2 years ago! This ???renter??? lives in a section of the property that has little parking. The parking was re-assigned last January by the Builder of the property, not the HOA. There is no discrimination against any minorities on the property. We have a wide cross of minorities on this property that follows the rule and regulation. You must remember, this is an Association with rule and regulations that each owner has signed that they (or their renters) will obey. That is were the problem lays, renters think this is an apartment complex. It is not! It is a Condo Association. The ???peeping tom??? problem again occurred over 1 ?? years ago was addressed immediately. It happened just once. There were no ???slashing of tires???. Yes, there was a car keyed in a neighbor-to-neighbor dispute. This renter says that vehicles are stolen and broken into all the time. If go down to Metro Police Department and ask them what is the least crime property in this area, they will tell you it is Laguna Palms. They have commended this property for keeping this property safe and crime free. They receive very few calls to this property. There is a very active Block-watch group on property and security. Please get your facts straight. Your comments are boarder line slander.

Two sets of rules in this place........ One for Renters and One for Owners!

Gosh, the quotes around "renters" would seem to make the original poster's point about two classes of people at Laguna Palms better than he EVER could have himself. Just curious, but how in the heck does the builder of the property have any say in the parking at LP? The place was built in 1990, and converted in 2004-5. That sounds like the same sort of lame excuse they gave me when they took away my covered parking space in the middle of the summer - I should have used it to break my lease right on the spot and moved out. Next time, have the courtesy to sign in as a manager since you work for or are a part or the HOA. Spare the slander threats as well...here is what I took from your post: -Mail break in - Yes -Parking problem - Yes -Peeping Tom - Yes -Tire slashing - No -Paint keying - Yes -Crime problems - Yes, just not as bad as other nearby properties He may not be relating the incindents as you present them, but it sounds like you are confirming most the very facts you question. Stop it, you are making me wish I had bought my unit! Hey, at least they finally caught the rapist that was hitting the place some years back: http://www.kvbc.com/Global/story.asp?S=7321308 The maintenance guy was very good, and stayed on with Laguna Palms after the conversion. A tall guy, I think his name was Doug...

It is now a NEW maintenenance guy. He is NOT as good as the Doug guy was. He cleaned the pool and cooking grill areas! The new guy doesn't!

I'm glad that someone actualy agrees with me here. How is it slander if you have just confirmed everything I basicaly said? And yes there was slashing of tires ( because I was a victim of one) and more motor thefts than you think. I remember seeing cars ( notice I am using a plural form of the word "CAR" just in case you did'nt notice ) that were recovered that the tow truck driver just dumped on the parking lot with no rims on it. Oh and to show you want you dont want to admit. The whole general area with in a mile radias is a war zone. So what makes you think you can even claim that you have a safe living environment? Anyone that thinks this place was cool or is a good place to live is more than likely the trouble makers or DEE DEE DEE HOA!!! So why different rules for renters than owners? I would think that both should have the same rules as anyone else. I see that as a way of just being dictative than anything. Being a owner or renter dont have any trait that a person is going to be respectable or not. I use to be a renter and I treated everyone with respect. But obviously I did'nt get the respect that any normal human being would get. Laguna Palms is trully a bad place to live no matter how you look at it. HOA grow up!!

Again...someone "Anonymous" replies (re: the very first "reply" here on 10/07, not the 1/15/08 Anonymous reply) as if they are 'in the know'. LOL And their spelling and grammar are downright atrocious, and facts incorrect. My favorite is summed up in 3 words, which should only be 2, "...boarder line slander..." LOL For the record, it's "borderline". And "slander" is 'spoken'...if it is in print, it is called "Libel"...oh, and it has to be "untrue". Subsequently, for the record, Mr Anonymous Manager, the original poster just fact-slapped you into "stfu" mode. Geez, think before you type Mr. Anonymous Manager! LOL, I do apologize for making fun of that, but it's so true. These people have nothing better to do with their time than to make as much rule-based minutae as possible for "their" version of a perfect community. And the rest of the people be-damned! They offer one single line of 'retort', not even genuine response...and completely ignore any 'fact based' repsonse that they provoke. It reeks of "...do as your told, because I have the ruler and I'll smack your hands with a $50-100 fine...or make a rule against you if I need to..." style of thinking. That first response by "Anonymous" on 10/28 shows just how much 'damage control' the management is doing to fix their image, and not the community. Perhaps they should open up HOA meetings to renters, or allow owners to proxy (at their discretion) via the tenant at a meeting. This would allow a more even representation of those renters interested in tailoring the overall environment to an appropriate cross-section (yes, that's another correction for you Mr. Anonymous Manager) of the residential tastes.
