My husband and I moved from KY to Las Vegas. We were so excited about Majestic Heights because it looked wonderful on apartments.com. We read the reviews here on apartmentratings.com after we had mailed in our rent from Louisville. We were a bit nervous but the rent was cheap and we thought we'd be positive and give it a try. MY GOD WAS I WRONG. We called the office before we left to make the 3 day drive to Las Vegas and we informed them of the reviews on apartmentratings.com and we told them that we have never lived in filth or roaches and we wouldn't do so. They assured us that they would have a nice clean apartment ready for us. We get to the place and it looks decent on the outside I guess....but when the leasing agent was showing me around the apartment assuring there was no roach problem, she opened up a cabinet and a big roach scattered across. Her statment, "oops, there's a big one." I wouldn't sit my purse down or move in my bags for fear they would infest my things. My husband decided to stick it out so we bought some cans of raid and starting spraying the corners of the unit, roaches starting coming out of the woodwork, big fat black roaches and baby roaches were all in my dogs water bowl. My husband went outside to spray and at night and HUNDREDS of roaches just scattered when he sprayed around the front of the building. I've never been so disgusted in my life. You could not walk to your car without stepping on roaches. We didn't stay there ONE NIGHT. The trash cans were overflowing so people would just throw their trash in front of the bins...there were pizza boxes EVERYWHERE. How on earth are they going to get rid of roaches just by spraying ONE unit and not picking up trash. They must spray ALL of the units to get rid of them. Roaches were crawling under our front door that night. I was balling my eyes out telling my husband I couldn't live like this so we packed up (after checking our luggage for roaches) and stayed at hotels for a week until we finally bought a condo. No, I disagree with what the person said earlier. Roaches ARE NOT everywhere in Vegas, just in dumps. I haven't saw one roach outside of our condominium. We live in a nice area west of the strip and that is what I suggest to all of you out there looking for a place to live in Vegas. STAY WEST OF THE STRIP. Rent is just a few hundred dollars more a month than the roach motel and it's worth every penny. On top of that, there were several cars in the parking lot that had been spray painted with grafitti. There was grafitti and what I thought were gang signs spray painted all over the place. It's a dump. The apartment itself was cute, it had a vanity and nice appliances, but don't let that fool you, at night the roaches will come out and they will be all over the place. We saw about 7 roaches in the house, several babies, and after we raided the place, there was about 20 roaches on their backs with their legs twitching in the air as they were dieing from the raid. Majestic Heights will NEVER get rid of the roach problem no matter if they spray your apt every week, they must spray EVERYBODY'S apartment EVERY week. Here's the kicker....when my husband called to ask about the roaches before we actually arrived they suddenly switched us to a different unit. This unit was supposed to be the cleanest they had....unfortunately, it was infested too. The lady at the leasing office was very nice, but she moronicaly told me that the other apartment we were going to move into had roaches so bad that they fell on her head when she walked in so she decided to put us somewhere else. I can't complain enough about this dirt hole. The stress this place caused me was unbelievable, my dog, my husband and I were homeless for days trying to find another place to live. DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF LIVING HERE UNLESS YOU CAN DEAL WITH ROACHES. One positive thing was that the office manager gave us back all of our rent money and deposits. I of course had to get my lawyer involved and show her Statute G of the Nevada renters rights. Under Nevada state law, rodents and bugs are considered to be unhabitable and you can get out of your lease that way. I hope this review isn't too negative, I'm not a negative person at all, but I hope that I save somebody from the mess that my husband and I got into by trusting the pictures on apartments.com and the leasing agents when really the place was nothing but a breeding ground for roaches.
