The building is old and has serious problems. The plumbing is terrible; other floors have flooded, and I have personally had smelly, black sludge seep up through my bathtub. The elevators frequently malfunction, and the hallways are filthy. The Mark 1 is located in a bad area of town, and homeless people sometimes try to sleep in the outer lobby. There is a roach problem. It is also extrememly expensive. I put up with all this before because the views are great and utilities were included in the rent. Now, however, our landlord is trying to change the terms of our lease mid-lease and charge us for utilities. Since the walls are uninsulated glass, it gets hotter inside the Mark 1 than outside, and is very expensive to cool. I will not put up with the Mark 1 any longer, and I look forward to moving out shortly when my lease expires.

Wow, how time flies by. I moved into the MARK I TOWERS (Apt. #702) on July 2, 1976. More than 31 years ago now, wow!!! The building was brand spanking new then and one of the best addresses in Las Vegas at that time. In fact, only Regency Towers in the LVCC was more prestigious than the Mark I. My rent was $260 a month for the studio apt., and everything was shiny and wonderful. You could park in the garage or on the deck, and there was a restaurant downstairs. The AC frooze you, and you could close the blind and make cool night during a hot summer day. So sorry to read about the apparent downhill spiral that has befallen this building in which I have such wonderful memories in the mid-1970s. Those were the days, hmmm!? :~))
