I moved here in October of '08. My apartment is downstairs, in the back by the flood control channel. Homeless people live in there. They get kicked out and then come right back.
Sometimes I feel like I'm in Africa. . .there are so many Ethiopians here. It doesn't bother me, but if you're racist you won't like it here.
There is a lot of trash on the grounds and it seems to take them awhile to clean it up. The laundry facilities are a bit disgusting and expensive.
The worst part is that these apts. are really old and stuff breaks all the time. My air conditioning went out last week. Took a couple hours to fix. Then, I come home at 3am from work this morning and it's out again. Can't get it fixed til the office opens at 9. It's now 3pm and still not fixed. To top it off. . .no water today either cause a valve broke somewhere in the complex. It is 110 degrees today. . .over 90 in my apt.
The apartments are extremely easy to break into. The bedroom and kitchen windows are a joke. My neighbor was broken into last week. . .in broad daylight.
The plusses are: it's extremely inexpensive and, up until the new neighbors moved in upstairs, it has been very, very quiet. they also allow pets . . which is great.
Management knows that they have a lot of shift workers living here. Why can't they be a little more courteous when placing new tenants' Put people with kids in the same building. People who are day sleepers should be in the same building. There are a ton of vacant apartments so this wouldn't be hard to do.
Funniest thing of all' They actually spray painted the dead spots on the grass!!! Spray painted them green. . .it's hilarious.
Overall, if you're looking for an inexpensive place and can get management to secure your windows, this is an okay place to live. FOR A SHORT TIME. IN THE WINTER.
Personally, I can't wait to get out of here. 4 more months on my lease!!!!
