Unacceptable Living Conditions

From: -Anonymous-
Date posted: 9/1/2002
Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002

We moved in to discover 1/4" to 1/2" gaps in the carpeting around every room. Visible tack strip in transitions from carpet to tile/vinyl. 6 months after move-in our carpet was fixed afer our 5 year old fell down the stairs due to loose carpeting. Our oven did not function properly (took nearly 2 months to get fixed - 2 week incriments of complaints). Garbage disposal was completely locked with rust upon move-in. Exhaust vents were covered with dust, and made horrid noises when used (upon move-in).

The Living Room has a lot of wasted space due to it's large size and limited options for seating/audio visual placement. Master Bedroom is the same size as the Living room, but it is difficult to arrange furniture due to the window ledge, illogically placed doors (bath, double entry door, closet, etc.)Child's rooms are very small, leaving little room for the dresser & toys. There is an inadequate amount of telephone and television jacks throughout the apartment, including 0 (zip, zero, nada) in the living room. We had to have the cable TV company run cable under the carpeting from the dining room to the living room to connect our television.

Neighbors were allowed to distribute and use illegal drugs. Bands of teenagers were allowed to roam the grounds until late hours (2am - 3am) disturbing residents with loud noise. Neighbors were allowed to practice for band sessions until late hours (11pm - typical). All with no comments from the management.

Parking was always an issue, in a 3 bedroom town-house you typically will find that both adults of the house drive a vehicle. Single car garage (barely large enough to open the doors and exit the vehicle on a 89 Ford Probe). Guest parking was very limted and distant from most apartments.
