Huge Pluses and Huge Minuses

There are some very nice things about San Croix. It is very quiet (which is important to me), the landscaping is nice, the people who live here are a notch above the renters at most other apartment complexes, and the pool area is relaxing and nice, with fewer kids than most complexes.
Now for the bad parts: the people who have been moving in lately are a little more ghetto than in the past (but still not as bad as most other apartments), the plumbing is just plain awful. If you move here, make sure to get two bathrooms because if you (god forbid) try to flush some toilet paper down the toilet--that's it. With a second bathroom, you have an alternative for the night. The bug problem is pretty bad--and what a variety of insects. The gas water heaters are inside the apartments and they sometimes don't vent properly, which can be a hazard. The biggest problem is no one to call at night if you have an emergency. There is technically an emergency line (answering service), but no one ever shows up (I've experienced this on more than one occasion).
There is huge turnover in the leasing office and no one seems to care about any of your apartment-related problems.
Although it is a beautiful complex (and quiet!), I would have to recommend to not move in because of the above problems. Emergency service is important and should be a priority. Plumbing is, of course, something that should work.
