find another place to live

I have nothing but problems since I've moved in. I was told 3 different apartment numbers before the actual move in date. I got an apartment that was not the floor plan we'd requested but because we'd already given notice to our current place we had no choice but to move in. I had problems once in the apartment just trying to get the assigned parking number. The number I was given was wrong and after parking their for days, another resident was very nasty when telling us that we needed to go back to the manager in order to get another assigned parking. When I call about problems, my calls are never returned and my husband has to go to the manager directly in order to get any problems solved. They turned the grass landscaping (one of the reasons we chose this apartment complex) into rock (*not small rocks but big chunky rocks)and due to other reasons (mainly financial) we will probably be leasing for another year before we can leave. The security gates that were suppose to be operational shortly after our move in still have not been fixed and I've had my car towed while parking in a handicap parking space that is only painted on the ground but not posted on a sign like all the other handicap parking spaces in the complex that have pole signs. The numbers posted for the tow company were incorrect and I had to find out from the Las Vegas Police Department when I reported the vehicle stolen. And for some strange reason our porch light is always out and never replaced.

Silverwood Apartments are great! They changed for the better in the last year!
I believe I know who is this person that was complaining earlier. Even if I am no longer a tenant, I still remember this person's attitude. I happen to be the one that you think I was nasty. It seemed to me at that time that you and your husband were very upset that I have asked you to move your car from my parking space and told you that you have to go back to talk to the management and clarify the situation with them, not with me, I was a tenant there way before you and always paid my dues on time and when you are coming home from work, tired and in an 115 F weather and after seeing the same car parked in my parking space, day after day, I don't think that someone can have the patience to deal with it anymore. Plus I am sure that you heard my car horn and you just ignored me, till some neighbors told me where do you live and I had to go knock on your door. Plus you never even bothered to say sorry or something like that, you even had an attitude, like you were the VIP tenant and the whole world owes you. And you occupied my parking spot for days, even though from time to time, I am sure that you saw my car parked there, you just chose my parking space because it was the closest to your apartment, right between the buildings, and of course, it was very convenient for you to claim that was yours. I had the impression that you did not want to move your car and you wanted me to go to the office and clarify it with them. Well, I'm not gonna let some 20 year old disrespect me like that. And the proof that you thought that you were special it is the fact that you parked on the handicapped space and of course your car was towed. Everybody knows, even a ten year old, that those 2 parking spaces with no assigned number and blue paint on the concrete, that they are reserved spaces for people with special needs.
I hope I did not write too much about that, but I had to say something so the guests or visitors and other tenants can learn something from this and try to deal with courteosy and respect towards other people's property or rights.
To continue about the apartment complex, it is not a perfect place, or perfect management, but whatever problems I had, they were taking care of in a timely manner, of course if you have a problem, they put in a work order and you have to wait in line to get it fixed, but normally I did not have to wait too long; the ladies from the office, the old and the new management were very friendly and helpful, as much as they can be. The complex is in a good location, the gates work now, and I can be everywhere within 15-20 minutes. I think the new management tried to fix it up and I can see the results already, good for them and for us, the only complain I have is the water bill, which it used to be around $30 in the summer of '06, now it is more than $40-42 per month (for one person).
I highly recommend the apartments, I think the location is great, the proximity of Post Office, FedexKinkos, groceries stores, gas stations, banks, pharmacy, video stores etc it is very important as well. Of course, one can stay in a luxury complex somewhere in Green Valley or Henderson but it will cost at least a few hundreds of dollars more, plus you have to be in the traffic a lot longer. With the exception of a few loud neighbors, I don't have any complaints. You can ask which one is a quieter building and the girls from the office gave me an apartment in a building with a lot of single professionals and not too much drama. You can see for yourself just by driving by in the afternoons and evenings. I was trying to move somewhere else at the end of my lease and I visited many luxury complexes and I was very disappointed with the price per square footage and the age of the buildings, every time I came home and I looked at my floor plan and kitchen and realized that my cabinets and doors were like new compare to some other ones at some upscale complex, and my apartment was not much smaller in comparison with some other ones that charge almost double. Please do not be fooled by their names or luxurious appearance, unless you have the funds and you don't care how much is your rent.
The conclusion is that Silverwood Apartments are a nice place to stay at, a place that you can call home for a few years.
