Years at this apartment: 2008-01-01 - 2009-01-01
A 1 on parking because-
1. They gave me a parking spot a whole building over, and around the corner.
When I asked Laura (Leasing consultant) about changing my spot, because there was already someone consistently in my reserved spot, she said I could park where ever I wanted including the uncovered/ unreserved spots. She told me that I would get a 24 hour notice before they towed my truck - this was of course after I asked her if they could change my assigned parking, and telling her that there was already someone parking there, that never moved and had out of town plates. I told her I didn't just want to get someone's car towed and have them come back from out of town to pay all kinds of impound fees- the car in my assigned parking spot never moved.
Then, later- they got new security and it was as if they had something personal against me, every day I was worried about my truck, because I had to park where I couldn't see it, and then every day I was threatened it was going to be towed for parking slightly off or whatever - then when I went into the office, with the 24 hour tow notice- I was told that was wierd because I wasn't on the tow list. they then went and asked the manager who had been driving around in her golf cart- she had put it on my truck, and thought the truck was parked funny, when I asked her about it she said she had put it on my truck and thought it was abandoned- (my truck doesn't look 10% abandoned)- I asked if they were having problems with that, and she daid that there were a lot of criminals or something- I told her that IF I HAD KNOWN that before I moved in, I never would have moved (here) this was the day after there was a high speed chase and the guy just happened to be running right outside (literally) our tree that is right outside my bedroom (both bedrooms) sindow, I was awaken to the sound of helicopters, dogs, and was concerned for my husband- They caught the guy Feet from my patio, and I think he trhrew drugs in my hallway- when I told this to the manager (because it couldn't have been any close to anyones area)She said she knew, she seen the cars and police, and they had no control over him hopping over the fence into this establishment.
I'm giving a rating for 1 for noise,
because I can clearly hear my upstairs neighbors. The sound proof windows work for the planes, but not if they are doing construction all night on the parking lot/ road- all you hear is beeping. I've asked my other neighbors about the upstairs noise, and all of them have said it's all the same- I've lived below people before, never this loud- I can hear them slamming cupboards and stuff like that- it's constant.
Grounds- I give a 1 to.
because the guys Lawn people are here all the time, they have someone to pick up trash, he misses 85% of the stuff, just walks around. The people do unnecessary work and then look at me and my puppies as if we are wierd because they are taking lunch at 11am because they are getting paid to do nothing- they're always here taking forever to do jobs that they shouldn't be doing-like it takes 10 of them to do 1 thing. Also, they didn't tell me that there was an addendum to the lease which included trash, water, and sewer- which runs $35 to $75 added to the rent. They said that it is split equally amongst the tenants, and gave me a paper saying that 75% of the water we use is for the toilets, but when you have the yard guys running around just plating with the sprinklers to look busy, I pay for it- as well as all the run off- If you come to look at this place and notice the flowers and stuff, ask about it, and you'll probably see yard workers walking around (or laying/sitting if it's after 11am) ask about the water, I don't think they tell you about the 'addendum' until you sign the lease- at least they didn't with me- My rent was also raised when I moved in to $925 (I don't have a sunset view)so it runs from $960-$1000, when I was looking $900 was my limit, and I had the help of a Realtor who had 36 properties for me to look at- I moved into here because I could get in fast and they only wanted $150 total move- in. Now, I could have saved a lot every month if I hadn't been in such a hurry.
Safety-
I give a 1 also because (how I previously explained)the random criminals in the area, and also my parking spot is so far away from where I actually live. They said they had free alarms, but mine started beeping shortly after I moved in , and they haven't fixed it sionce because it's controlled buy another company, and spo far I guess it takes more than 8 mo. for someone from THAT co. to get out. So, I don't have an alarm which was suppost to be included free with the rent. Also, the gate constantly breaks down and there is a mentally challenged person constantly walking around by himself, talking to humself, etc.
Construction
It is a little loud, but They have tried to upgrade. They added mirrored closet doors, different doors, and fixtures.
Maintenance-
I give a 3, they do usually fix things correctly, I needed a new dryer, and they replaced it. with anew energy efficient one.
Staff-
I give a 1 because I don't feel they were honest when I moved in (as far as the prices) and for a professionally run leasing office, they should know laws. The manager told me that if she changed my parking spot, then she would have to change everyones and it would cause "pandemonium," and that it was an issue of HUD the reason why......I could go on and on, about how they have been unprofessional- I would expect more- If they were men, I would think they were criminals....
Overall-
I give this place a 2, I'm looking for another place for less than what I'm paying now, I don't go to th epark every day (which is free) so I really don't have a reason to be spending almost $200 extra, I don't have a garage, and all my stuff hardly fit in here after downsizing- I can get a bigger place with a garage, I could even rent a house for what I am paying for rent- and not have to pay for storage- not worth the $$$-$$$$
