Unfortunately, since new management (3rd one) has been in place in the 5 years that I have been here, the changes have been tremendous and not forthcoming. I asked several times when are you planning to convert this complex......Oh, we're not doing that - that's not resident friendly!! BULL!!!
I must mention that when I first moved here in 2002, Talavera had a great thing going if you joined this "Rent to Own" program - 25% of your rent was banked for you until you wanted to buy a home and you received statements in the mail as to your bank balance. That program was over by the time the 2nd management team came in. So where's the money you ask - um....can't get anyone to answer my questions and the people that were in charge of it are no where to be found!!!
So anyway - current news of Talavera - sorry now called Broadstone.....I was very happy living here until recently. Management seem to have overlooked background checks and common sense judgement. The newer residents (and not all of them) have no consideration, respect or class about them at all. The entrance hall to the apartments have either one light or none - do you think this is a safety issue....uh, yes!!! I have called several times about the lights being out, especially when we recently (early March) received a letter from Talavera telling its residents to "beware" of gunmen that robbed a young lady and her mother in building #25. Where is patrol''' We pay a lot of money to live here and I really feel that it's all being burned in someone's fireplace! I also had a water heater that burst - no one called me on my cell or at work, but maintenance did enter my apartment and used my decorative towels hanging in the guest bathroom to soak up the water!! Oh, the water heater was left in my apartment - I had no hot water and had to shower in cold water to go to work the next morning. I had to lay management out - I was hotter than July!!! They immediately removed the heater and replaced it with a new one; maintenance left the heater outside my door for 3 weeks!!!! I couldn't believe it!! And with all the other comments about management and its staff, it's so true - they don't care and they don't respond in a timely fashion. I miss Robin, she was the best manager this property had!! With the new granite countertops, brushed stainless steel kitchen accessories and laundry facility being put into the apartments, comes a hefty rent increase of $150 - $200 and that was from one of the staff memembers!!
So with all this said and as beautiful as this place is, I hate to go, but I have to do what I have to do. And that is to live in my place without working 2 jobs to keep an apartment I can't even live in because I'm working so much!!!
