I lived there for two and a half years -- it was my first apartment and I didn't know any better. The floor plan wasn't bad, the rent was great, but the bedrooms are small and the walls paper-thin. Even though there wasn't assigned parking, people would get very possessive of "their" parking spots. One of my neighbors even had a nasty note left on her car about parking in "someone else's spot." Give me a break.

As for the tenants, many are older folks with limited incomes, young people with limited incomes, or just plain trash. The low rent allowed a lot of low-lifes to move in. The cops visited frequently -- domestic squabbles, fights between neighbors, noise complaints, etc. Even though the apartments only have two bedrooms, there were a ton of kids in the complex. Kids ran around with no supervision -- chasing neighborhood animals, playing baseball in the common area and hitting the surrounding apartment buildings, and playing in the streets without yielding to oncoming traffic.

The old ladies in the office were nice but the office was staffed only on the weekdays when I lived there. You were on your own until Monday if there was a problem with neighbors.

Village @ Karen is fine for a temporary stay if it's your first place or trying to get on your feet, but don't live there too long or you're going to end up hating life like I did. Glad we moved out!
