Just like a job offer or any other promise in life, you will get the "sunny side up" when you first get into the place, but then things change and you see the situation for what it really is.
Vintage at the Lakes is a nice place. Relatively clean, great setting as you're inbetween the city and the mountains. Good placement with Boca Park shops and other things very close by. But in Vegas, being a heavily populated and commercialized town, you'll find this just about anywhere...especially in the Lakes/Summerlin regions.
I have been in this complex for less than a month and I'm due for my first rent payment. The rooms are nice and the layouts aren't too bad, but let me tell you, then things you have read in the other reviews are true. I have a downstairs neighbor that likes to listen to her music and crank the bass up. So as I'm sitting in my living room watching TV, I can feel my flooring vibrate at the sound repercussions. When someone on one of the three sides of me takes a shower or flushes the toilet, I can hear it. The flooring in the tub/shower creeks when you shift your weight because there are no bars or supports under the framing of the tub. (Basically you're standing the flooring of the tub which rests on a piece of plywood, hence the creeking.) The walls are thin also such that you can hear the TV, kids, and pets in other apartments.
Not to mention that I put in a work order to get the garbage disposal (motor didn't work when I moved in), ice maker (no water to fridge), no water to dishwasher (probably on the same water line), and toilet (runs longer than normal and makes a very loud annoying noise) all fixed. Well, here we are...4 phone calls and over 2 weeks later and still nothing has been done to rectify the problem. No phone call to say "oh we're sorry, we'll get on it", etc. 4 times I've relayed the same information to them and have yet to see any response. Not very cool.
If you're moving to Vegas for the first time, like I just have, then this isn't too bad of a place to get you on your feet and running. I would definitely suggest to look into the housing market though if you're up for it. For as much as you're paying in rental cost that DOESN'T include any utilites, you could probably get a house for just about the same amount of money after is all said and done. I know I'll be starting my research on that soon and just eat the security deposit if I have to.
Good luck in your apartment hunt!
