After being shown the professionally maintained model, I decided to take up residence at Newport Village. Angela was my initial contact. When it was time to sign-up, the assistant manager Lisa took over. She was extremely arrogant, odiously and disgustingly objectionable. Her unabashed ability to lie was jaw-dropping.
My first thought was to go elsewhere.
I looked at a few units which were in various stages of disarray. You could see where large holes in walls had been repaired amateurishly. I settled for a unit I considered the lesser of the evils. My first night resulted in a flood (caused when the previously mentioned amateur maintenance staff did not connect the hoses to the machine. Some guy just walked right in (said he did not know someone was living here). He left, and said he would return. He never did. My unit hallway and laundry remained flooded that evening and for most of the next day. For the next few days I would inhale dust and dirt from the bare floor kicked up by the blowers. The tile floors in the kitchen and bathrooms had yellow stains that could not be removed. I had been promised replacement. It never came. Screens in the windows were the wrong size or bent. Window blinds were too short (width). They appeared to have been cut by the gardener. No two were of equal lentgh. There was paint on the carpets, mirrors and light fixtures. The toilets were bad. There were patches cut into the carpet instead of replacing the section. The was an electrical short. The grounds were filthy, especially the outer management office. Everywhere there was debris.
No one seemed to use a trashcan. The cars blaring music was constant.
One weekend I heard gun shots from 2 types of sutomatic weapons. Management claimed it to be cap guns. Automatic cap guns' Residents walk their dogs around the property and let them dump on the grounds without picking it up. Hordes of kids with fowl language roam the property. Garages and apartments were broken into.
Don't be fooled by a professionally staged model and phony smiles. Steer clear from this place.
