Over Priced Ghetto

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
First things first, I have never been so excited to move out in my life. I have lived here for about a year and I can't wait to get out of here. I have never been so disgusted by the living conditions of any house or apartments that I have lived in more than this one. So I'm going to be very thorough with this review and go right down the list so no one else has to go through the hell I had to go through.
Parking - After a month of living here I bought a new car and within a week of parking the car outside, the car had four scratches and two dents from other cars that park too close and don't care if their car door hits another car. Now that it's been almost a year the car looks five years older because it is so dinged and scratched. I have literally watched one of the many kids who are allowed by negligent parents to roam the complex at all hours of the night, dump a soda on the hood of the car. The tires were also slashed twice. Parking lot lights are always out and people who don't even live on the property take up the parking spots because there is always a party going on somewhere.
Noise - As mentioned earlier, there is always a party going on. The walls are thin so if your neighbor is fighting with someone or is cranking music you're going to to hear it too. Also as mentioned before there is kids everywhere!!! Kids who scream at each other across the complex, yell, ride bikes in the middle of the road on purpose in front of cars so you have to drive two miles per hour. This place is an overpriced ghetto . . . people standing on their balconies and in their doorways yelling and screaming at four in the morning. The majority of the residents here don't care, they just don't.
Grounds - Filthy and disgusting. OK I'll be the first to admit that I smoke cigarettes, but I unlike some, I use an ashtray, and just don't throw the cigarette buds over the balcony and on the side walk. Trash is blowing everywhere and the trash dumpsters smell so bad and they're surrounded by bugs. This place is gross.
Safety - I'm sure you've read many of the other reviews about this place so I'm not going to waste my time writing about how big of a problem theft is here. North Las Vegas Police Department is always responding to calls that involve this place. There is always some group of teens walking outside trying to be the next big gangster yelling at residents on their balconies trying to start a fight, which I found amusing because if you actually threaten them back they run away from you lol. But just having to see them every night staring at you is really annoying. The security guard is a joke, as mentioned before in other reviews it's true . . . THE SECURITY GUARD SLEEPS IN HIS CAR!!! I work a late work shift and the guard is parked right in front of the mail boxes so I see him every night . . . usually asleep. As mentioned earlier the lights are always out so it can get really dark so with all of these wanna be gangsters walking around trying to get some street credit would you feel safe'
Construction - The roads have cracks everywhere and in my one year of living here the lines for the parking lots have only been repainted once. The buildings look nice from the outside but don't be fooled by the nice looking office and the outside appearance of the resident buildings. The security gates are ALWAYS BROKEN if both of them aren't then one is so whoever that wants too can just drive right in. Also a lot of people don't have remote gate openers so there is always a train of cars just hanging out by the gates waiting for someone who does have a gate opener to drive up and open the gate then all of them speed in. My apartment in particular didn't have any weather stripping in the doors so during the summer I had to keep the A/C going just to keep it somewhat cool in the house because hot air was just blowing in through the door making my electric bill around $300 for four months straight. Two of my windows wouldn't lock because the window track was so bent. So if for some odd reason you do decide to move here make sure to list everything that is wrong with the apartment, but there's no guarantee that it'll be fixed.
Maintenance - What a joke, and a loss of money for Newport paying these guys just to drive around on golf carts and not do anything except almost wreck into your cars. These guys will show up, look at what is wrong; say they are going to the shop to get the right part that will fix the problem and never return. If you are lucky enough to get one of them to actually come and "fix" something be prepared to call them again in a day or two because it'll break again.
Staff - Were to begin . . . The staff will be sure to be the nicest people on earth when they're showing you the "Perfect" model apartment, but when you sign the lease papers they treat you like a burden and a waste of their time. They will not show you the apartment that you will be living at for a year until you sign the lease and then the problems of the apartment isn't their concern . . . it's yours. Then when you complain like I did about how the tile at the front door is cracked, the kitchen tile is yellow, holes in the wall, windows won't lock, dishwasher is broken, and how there is white paint covering everything like I said to them, their reply will be, "It's livable". That is how they treat the residents; as long as they sold another lease they're happy. But GOD forbid you interrupt one of them from playing solitaire on their computer to tell them that your washer just flooded the laundry room. Also they did a fire extinguisher check to make sure they were all charged, and didn't bother to give me one back, when I asked for one, the staff member went to the back room and gave me one . . . It was empty (I guess she didn't bother looking to see if it was charged . . . Must of had solitaire on the mind). And also be prepared to buy your own air filters because they tell you that they supply the resident s air filters but when you go in to ask for one they are conveniently out or one of the maintenance guys are out getting more, I guess they've been out for a whole year now.
Overall - DON'T MOVE HERE . . . I wouldn't have written all of this just to vent about how bad this place is, I want you to avoid having to go through all the troubles that I along with several other people who were tricked into thinking that this would be a great place to live. Just keep on driving past Newport. If you do choose Newport don't say you weren't warned!!!
