Manzanita Gate apartments are slightly out-of-the-way and the rent prices are rising with the housing crisis, but I would still recommend them to anyone.
The most important things about an apartment to me are feeling safe and secure there and being able to get a good night's sleep. Manzanita Gate delivers on both counts. And trust me, that's rare; I lived in two other apartment complexes in Reno where I chose to pay the fines to get out of a lease, it was that bad.
Manzanita Gate does not allow low income housing, and I think that helps significantly with the safety of the premises. Also, the apartments are on the edge of town in a nice residential neighborhood with a school, park, and hiking trails. The apartments are very family-friendly, so there are children out playing during the day. Also, things quiet down early at night, and unlike the other Reno apartments I've lived in, I wasn't woken up every night by someone's loud bass or gang fights errupting in the parking lot. Also, the apartments are well insulated from sound. I had a dog living above me and an infant below, but I could only hear barking or crying when my windows were open. Even then, the other residents are very considerate about noise at night.
On top of being safe and silent and in a good neighborhood, Manzanita Gate offers the most genuine staff I've ever dealt with. The manager and leasing agents all greeted me by name the few times I went to pick up a package. They offer discounted rent almost every month for paying a few days early. True, they work for some big corporation out of state, but I feel that they bend the corporate rules to accomodate the needs of the residents they see every day. Also, they promptly fixed the two minor problems I had with the toilet and furnace filter.
If you can afford it, and if you are a decent person who just wants a safe place to live, try Manzanita Gate.
