Meadowood Apartments
< | >
Meadowood had some good features..mostly bad though. First I want to say it was not that bad for my first apartment...there are many others that are worst. Before I moved in they did not let me see the apartment...I will admit that was my fault! The day I moved in I got the keys before even seeing my new home. When I moved in they had told me that the rent was lowered..they only lowered the rent because they made us all pay our own water bills...the bill is about $60.00 a month, seems a bit high for a one bathroom apartment to me. I think one building was one meter and the split it up. The first night I felt like I was sleeping outside on the lawn...I bet I would have been warmer out there...it was freezing!! The heater was broken before I even got here! It also smelled funny in here when I moved in....Maybe I was just used to the smell or it left. I paid for a full upgraded apartment and when I saw it the stove in there was the origial one from the 70's. It was so banged up that the burners would not sit flat and it looked like people had cut into it with knives. I called the office to let them know I wanted my money back for a full upgrade or a new stove. I called over four times...They were always friendly in the office...never rude...but did not do much to fix problems. Paint was cracked off around most everything. You can see patches in the walls...but I guess thats normal for the age in which they are. The bathtub looks semi-new but the outer layer was peeling off all over the place. There was a MAJOR M-O-L-D problem in the bathroom...kinda gross...but maintence came to clean it. I could have lived with all those things but the nasty people that lived below me STUNK so badly the smell would invade my home often. I swear they made fish everyday I lived there...Not to mention that neighbors are NOT friendly...A LOT and I mean A LOT of trashy people! Broken down cars all over the place...I mean all over! Assigned parking seemed like its a quarter of a mile away from where my apartment was. Lugging all my crap from car to house was not fun! Young kids often were drinking in the tennis courts late at night...leaving the bottles all over. People were NEVER on time to get there FREAKIN laundry! Its not bad enough you have to tote all your heavy laundry over to the laundry rooms...you have to wait for someone to get there clothes outta the washer then again for the dryer...people must have lost there clocks when they did laundry because its a big waiting game! If you're gonna do laundry..EVER..I hope you have a few free hours on your hands. The washers are tiny and hardly hold anything...Dryers are new but don't usually fully dry. They raised the price on laundry to $1.25 per wash...that can get expensive. The single pane windows don't keep noise out very well...and I often could feel the cold air coming in through them in the winter. Children run unsupervised outside screaming on saturday mornings when you are trying to sleep...and neighbors blast mexican music early in the morning and feel the need to open there doors for others to really hear it. The back door does not lock very well...it could easily be broken into. These super cool guys across from me I think they were tweekers would yell at 3AM outside to one another...waking me up all the time. Again people were rude and inconiderate of others. Some people call it MeadowHOOD!
A few tid bits of good....
Since the apartments are older the trees are huge and beautiful. They tower over the rooftops and provide shade. The common areas (gym, office, ect...) are very clean and nice. The office people are very polite...never were rude...actully very sweet girls that work in the office! The location is good because it is in the middle of town.

sounds like you have bad neighbors, not the apartment complex. I live here and I love my neighbors and apartment.

I have lived here for more then eight months and I have never had a problem with anything. The staff is quick, courteous and get the job done within 48 hours. I rent a two bedroom with three pets and have no trouble from anyone. Even when I had a complaint with another tenant they took care of it. I will always reckamend living here to everyone. Sounds like a different place other then here that you are speaking of.
