Bad Management, Worse Apartments

Alright, so I still live here unfortunately; the management is terrible. They have no sympathy, or respect for the people that live here, unless they are friends with them. I'm sure when I move out I am going to totally get boned on my deposit, cause there is a $300 fee for repainting that will charge you if you move out after the first year. Here it is right out of the lease
During 1 year, 100% painting cost
After 1 year, 67% cost
After 2 years, 33% cost
After 3 Years, 0%
Every other thing that is broken, or missing, you are responsible 100%.
75 DOLAR LATE FEE plus 15 DOLLARS A DAY FOR EVERY DAY ITS LATE'''' That by itself is freaking nuts!!
I live here with my girlfriend, and when we checked out the sample apartment, it looked good, but of course it will, its a sample. They tell you up front you pay for water sewer trash. Thats fine, but its added to your already high rent price. They completely skip over the paint coverage in the lease when they talk about it. I found out about it after I looked through my lease and then I finally found out through this website how much that actually screws you over. The parking is alright, its covered, and that is a good thinng it the weather, but it really doesnt rain too much, and when it snows, everyone in Northern Nevada, knows how to deal. The garages they offer are tiny, and you can fit a car in there, no trucks here. You can barely get your truck under the car port. The mail boxes have just gotten broken into, and it took the post office about 2 months to fix, so i have had to drive to the post office, about 4 miles away every couple days. The gym they have does have some nice equipment, but its small.
Back to my apartment, after I moved in, it was the beginning of summer, and we are located on the first floor, there were constatly bugs, these nasty centipedes, you can see them in the pictures of this apartment complex, this apartment complex is so good that all they have as their pictures are bugs, five different types, and that isnt even actually all of them, there are spiders, and they even crawled through the light sockets and were stuck in our light bulb covers. Imagine walking into your room to lok up at a giant f'in spider in your light. They said, they were doing pest control, but that never happened because I just killed a giant centipede about 3 inches long yesterday. The living rooms are big that is a plus, but the bedrooms are small, and there isnt room for much more than a bed and a stand for a tv. The main bathroom is about half the size of the bedroom, which is a complete waste of space. The washer and dryer are nice, but they still had lint in the dryer!! I pulled out the refridgerator, and it was even cleaned under. I keep this dang apartment cleaner than anything I have ever lived in before, and still there are ants, i sweep, and sweep and mop, and put ant traps, everywhere, but they still come in every single room I have ants. I complained about 5 times about the people that live above us, because they constantly poured nasty water over their balcony onto my tiny patio, I had to call three times before they showed up and asked them to stop, but really that didn't stop them because two days later they poured the water again, but this time it was soapy, so i thought they were cleaning, well they were but it just so happened to include a nice dog turd in it. I called and complianed agian, and nothing happened, the managers don't care about what the tenants do, but they sure care about the looks of your car. I have an old car that has some rust spots in it, and because this is such the perfect neighborhood, a broken back window from when I lived literally; the next apartment complex down. They flagged my car for towing, when I told them it runs, and I drive it, they said I had to fix it to make it look nice. I put plastic on the window, and then not even two days later it was flagged agian, but this time because the plate was outdated. I fixed the problem, but not after they pretty much forced me to rent a garage to hide it from the general public. THEN not even two days after that, they cited me for having too many cigarette butts on my patio, but funny thing is, I DONT SMOKE!!! The letter they sent to me told me that needed to pick up the butts or I would be charged something like 10 dollars per butt they saw. The pool they have is crap, they say its heated to 70, but get in it ad you will know thats a lie. The utility closet they have the heater/AC and hot water heater in is literally open to the outside, absolutely no insulation, and vents in the top and bottom of it, my electricity bill is constantly over 100 dollars, and I barely have anything on, so I have no idea why its that much. I really think the management is crap here, it says in the lease that rent is due on the 3rd before it is late on the 4th. I called almost a half a month in advance, and told them I had to pay for an operation, and I would be late on the rent, seeing as how the operation cost 600 dollars, plus medication of about 90 dollars. I thought that since, it was in the lease they might not give me the late fees, but thats not good enough, I knew I should have had written correspondence but i was loopy, and thought they were nice. So after the 3rd of the month, they charge me 75 DOLLARS for a late fee, plus 15 dollars a day for every day it is late. All in all they cost me 250 dollars, and they dont give a crap, and this month, since i had to pay rent late and the extra 250 dollars they charged me, I'm going to be late, but again they dont care, the manager actually advised me not to write a letter telling them I would be late and if they could somehow bypass the late charges i would be given, because she knew the answer the big bosses would give, and this is a quote, Unless you are dying in the hospital, they wont, give you any slack on those late fees, and if I let one person get away with it, then i have to let everyone" i wouldnt of even been in that damn situation if it wasnt for them. This is the only apartments that I have ever had troubles with, its not like I am living beyond my income, because you have to be able to make money to live her, i just et paid on bad places during the month, I am asking for a 4 day leeway so I can get paid, but they wont do it, 150 bucks is more important to them, then keeping their tenants happy, and they don't care if they get bad reviews, their prices are ridiculously too high, the place that is right below, which i might add is for low income people is about 4 times better than this crap chute. What really makes me mad, is the late fee is 75 bucks plus 15 dollars a day, every other apartment I have lived at only has a 15 to 25 dollar late fee, but I never had to worry about that because I was never late seeing as how they actually care about their tenants. Say what you want to say about it, it does have its good, and it does have its bads, but i can honestly say, that living here for only 5 months, this is the worst place to live in reno, its a good location, and it is reasonably safe, but if you want to enjoy living in your apartments, then i really strongly urge you to look across the street, or down the hill, or even on the other side of the road. I have read the good reviews of this place, and really it seems like the people that have had a good time here were either friends(really good friends) with the management(which isnt a bad thing) or they are people who were lucky enough to not experience the bugs that almost every single tenant has had, havent had to deal with the extra parking, or lack thereof, and havent had to deal with being singled out like I have because I complained about reasonable stuff, who wants crap from the upstairs neighbor on their patio. When moved in here I was excited, but 2 months into the lease and I was searching and searching for a way out, but they said it themselves, the only way out is getting relocated for the military. Not even death voids the contract. BE VERY WEARY OF THE LEASE, LOOK IT OVER, AND MAKLE SURE YOU KNOW EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SIGN IT, THIS LEASE IS WORSE THAN 90% OF OTHER APARTMENTS. Please do some serious thinking before moving here, I';m sure if you went door to door here and asked the people how they liked it, see what they say, ask them some questions ask about bugs, and how the management takes care of the people, this is the worst apartment complex you can get, just terrible, please reconsider before you get stuck here, I'm not saying it will be bad for you, but when the $#!t hits the fan its going to stay that way, they hold grudges, and they really dont care about you, they just want that green stuff, and they want as much of it as possible without having to use any of it to make this place better. And please read every other review you can find about this place!
