I lived at Silver Ridge for almost five years and saw a lot of changes in the management staff and maintenance staff. The better managers seem to leave or get relocated to other properties too soon. The current maintenance staff (as of June 2004) is pretty good...probably the friendliest and sharpest I've seen.

Security is so-so. I never had a problem, but a roommate of mine had his truck broken into after leaving it unlocked, and I know of one neighbor whose car was broken into. I think it's kids from nearby income-limited apartments.

The biggest problem is the lack of insulation between floors. I could hear almost every step my upstairs neighbor took due to creaky boards. One time I peeked into an apartment that was being renovated and saw there was absolutely nothing between floors except the wood frame. No sound or weather insulation of any kind. Other tenants have confirmed they observed the same thing.

The rates are a bit high, but not unusually so for a northwest location. Northwest Reno is just expensive.
