decent, but staff is extremely noisy

I don?t know what to make of this complex...It?s kind of like a "love/hate" relationship.

The positives: The location is excellent and the surrounding communities are top notch. The apartments themselves are in OK shape (presumably built in the 60s or 70s) with nice foilage, and residents in the complex are by and large decent. There are no large parties, blaring music, or undesireable types that I?ve seen in the year I?ve been here.

The negatives: It?s ironic, because most people would associate apartment noise with other tenants, but in La Cuesta?s case, the noise comes from the staff, and I mean all the time; weekday or weekend - doesn?t matter. There is always some kind of noisy "project" or maintenance endeavour going on at this place, and if you are looking for peace and quiet (or have to work at home, etc), it is absolutely maddening. While routine maintenenace is understandable from time to time, it is constant at this complex, and the sad part is the management never gives any warning whatsoever (i.e. we will be sandblasting/welding/etc. at 8am Saturday morning). The apartment management (and maintenance crew) have zero respect for the tenants when it comes to these matters.

In addition to the noisy staff, there is a soccer field adjacent to the complex that is very noisy for at least half of the year, with Saturdays and Sundays bringing large crowds of Latino soccer leagues and such. These events start early in the morning and go till 6-7pm.

Bottom line, La Cuesta is a decent complex and the area makes it worth it; However, if you work nights, swing shift, like to "sleep in", etc. you might want to look into another place to live. Still recommended despite the afforementioned shortcomings.
