This is one of the worst neighborhoods in town. The rent is not too bad,but then you realize that you are paying over $600 to live in an area that is really just one big housing project. There are three homeless men that come to dig through our trash every day. There is usually old broken furniture piled around the dumpsters, and when the kids here arent running in front of cars, they like to play on the abandoned couches and mattresses. There are several people that come around to try to sell fruit, blankets, and what seem to be stolen cd's.Loud mexican music plays at all hours. On the weekends people drink in the parking lot,and one large group of men like to threaten people as they walk by and throw beer bottles at them.Another group of men like to find un-locked cars and take what they like out of them.I left my car parked for two days and the windows got bashed in.The police are always here.On one occasion they had to block off the entrance and we werent allowed out of our apartments. The interiors seemed nice untill I found out about the roach problem. No one speaks english except the staff, and the obvious drug dealers and gang members are intimidating.

I totally agre with you on everything you said, I had roachs in my apartment, and belive me this was my first aparment, and there was a family of 6 children and 2 adults, the parents would leave at night to work and leave there children all alone in this ghetto area. My car was broken into on my first day of work. STAff IS great.

I can sympathize with many of your feelings as a white couple living in a predominantly spanish speaking community. I have come to realize, however, that part of living here is learning to adjust to what is a different culture than what I was used to. Although some of the noise issues were certainly jarring at first, I am overwhelmed by the sense of community here. The guys that drink in the parking lot are friendly people, and I have never been threatened in any way. I keep tools in the back of my pickup truck that anyone is welcome to use, and they always get put back at the end of the day. There are peddlers, most of them selling mediocre wares, but this is made up for because some of them sell delicious food, and there is even an ice cream truck! When is the last time you saw an ice cream truck? The staff is very helpful. We had a roach problem when we moved in, but the staff worked closely with us to eradicate the problem. Finally, this is one of the only complexes in Reno that will accept large dogs of any breed; all that is needed is an interview with management.
