I can sympathize with many of your feelings as a white couple living in a predominantly spanish speaking community. I have come to realize, however, that part of living here is learning to adjust to what is a different culture than what I was used to. Although some of the noise issues were certainly jarring at first, I am overwhelmed by the sense of community here. The guys that drink in the parking lot are friendly people, and I have never been threatened in any way. I keep tools in the back of my pickup truck that anyone is welcome to use, and they always get put back at the end of the day.
There are peddlers, most of them selling mediocre wares, but this is made up for because some of them sell delicious food, and there is even an ice cream truck! When is the last time you saw an ice cream truck?
The staff is very helpful. We had a roach problem when we moved in, but the staff worked closely with us to eradicate the problem. Finally, this is one of the only complexes in Reno that will accept large dogs of any breed; all that is needed is an interview with management.
