I read all these comments about hearing their upstairs neighbors. I've lived in apartments for a while now, and have gotten used to the noise. You have to if you live in an apartment. I NEVER hear the neighbors that share sides with me on the second floor. I hear footsteps from my upstairs neighbor, and an ocasional televison from time to time. All this noise is minimal and understandable. You are living in an apartment after all, get over it!
The grounds are very well kept and they are in the process of repainting the buildings. Its a very nice colour, and I look forward to it being completed. We have a lake view and I noticed the grass wasn't getting proper watering and was dying. I notified the office, and the next day the grass was being watered again, and now the grass is green and beautiful. We love the lake and the people we walk around it with.
There is an appt complex next to us that does cause us trouble, its a low income housing complex, and they often use the lake to walk to McDonolds and such. There are a few issues with teenagers doing things they shouldn't, but for the most part vintage residents keep a watchful eye.
The people in the office are complete idiots, but are nice, and can manage themselves accordingly with some help. They often mess things up, and it takes several calls to fix billing problems.
The maintance staff is outstanding... They have always fixed eveything in a fast manner, and are very kind and polite.
Overall, yes its expensive, but the perks of living in this part of town are worth it. The apartments are nice and very comfortable. The apliances are well kept, and in good condition.
My major complaints are the office staff, and the teenagers who live in the complex next to us that cause issues for our complex. I'm 25, and find them annoying.
